'It is really exciting,' Melissa began. There has been something that I have been asked about so, so many times and it hasn’t worked out.

Melissa told a fan on Twitter that she hadn't been asked to join the revival after the show's creator said she would have loved for the actress to take part if her schedule had allowed it.

'Thanks for the invite, but sadly no one asked me or Sookie to come back to Stars Hollow. Wish them all the best!!' she shared.

Amy had told TV Line that the star was too 'f***ing busy' to take part, but added: 'Melissa was one of us. If she has a spare moment to run over - even if for just a cameo - we would be totally game.'
