Former catwalk queen Linda Evangelista, 50, looks almost unrecognisable as she enjoys casual night out

She was one of the original 90s supermodels and has starred on the cover of more than 600 magazines.

And despite celebrating her 50th birthday last year, Linda Evangelista still looked incredibly youthful as she made a rare public appearance in Tokyo, Japan on Wednesday.

The former catwalk queen - who famously declared she never got out of bed for less than $10,000 a day - was almost unrecognisable in her casual attire as she dined out in the bustling city, going incognito in her laid back look.

Linda ditched her former glamorous image for a more relaxed style, donning a mackintosh with ruffle detailing on the lapels and simple jeans.

The supermodel added her own fashion flair to the look with a lip print handbag and a pair of shiny brogues.

She pulled her dark locks back into a severe ponytail and shielded her eyes behind oversized sunglasses.

Linda previously told the Mail On Sunday that she hadn't had any work done and hoped to grow old gracefully.

'There was a picture of me in the press recently just after I’d had a facial, in which I was wearing no make-up. It was claimed that I had had this and that procedure done, and it was rubbish,' she explained.

'I probably will have surgery – not right now, but I am getting close. If it’s important to me I will have it, and announce that I’ve had it.'

Go monochrome chic with Linda's Prada shoes

She was one of the original super models in her heyday, and there was no brand or magazine who didn't want to work with Linda Evangelista.

Nowadays though the model has handed the baton over to her younger peers and keeps herself mostly out of the limelight in favor of a quiet life. That doesn't mean she's given up on her love of fashion though, and the former catwalk queen was spotted donning a very chic little outfit while out and about in Tokyo this week.

The 50-year-old might have swapped her heels for flats now, but she's still a fan of the designer labels and these gorgeous black-and-white patent loafers are by none other than Prada. The stand out piece of the outfit, Linda dressed up her simple all-black ensemble with these chic flats and a fun lipstick print bag (by Bally), proving she's definitely still got it. Unfortunately these loafers are no longer available to buy but shop Prada shoes at Saks Fifth Avenue to the right.

The model muse was best known in the nineties as one of the world's six supermodels, a group which also included Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington, Cindy Crawford, Claudia Schiffer and Kate Moss.

Linda got her start in modelling at the age of 16 when she took part in the Miss Teen Niagara beauty pageant, where she was spotted by a representative from Elite Model Management.

Her unique and versatile look meant that Linda was able to snag a multitude of modelling jobs, quickly becoming one of the highest paid models in the industry.

Since then, she has starred in campaigns for brands including NARS, Fendi, L'Oreal, Chanel, Talbots and Moschino.

These days she spends less time on the catwalk, but Linda is still a regular fixture in magazines and ad campaigns.

As of 2014, Linda was worth approximately $18million (£11.7million).

She has one child, an eight-year-old son named Augustin, with former flame, French billionaire Francois-Henri Pinault, who is now married to actress Salma Hayek.
