'I considered a vasectomy but Jools said no': Jamie Oliver admits he's 'really excited' about arrival of couple's fifth child despite thinking about having the snip

Jamie Oliver and his wife Jools announced they're expecting their fifth child last month.

But the celebrity chef revealed he seriously considered having a vasectomy before the mother-of-four became pregnant during his appearance on Alan Carr's Chatty Man on Thursday.

Jamie, 40, told the Channel 4 funnyman that his reasons for not going through with the medical procedure were because Jools didn't approve and that he's got a phobia of needles but he was thankful he decided against it as he can't wait to meet the new addition to the family in August.

He said: 'I did actually say, "can you give me any advice, like when you go and see the doctor?", and he gave me advice and Jools is like “no” and I can't even talk about it, I’m so nervous.'

Jamie added that he was also put off having the snip when his friend revealed he had suffered complications from it.

He said: 'When it went out in the press the other day that Jools was pregnant, [my mate] just sent me a text and I was like, “oh my God, I don’t need to see that. Put me off my lunch” No, it’s great. Glorious.'

'It is completely nuts': Jamie, 40, added 'it's amazing' he and Jools will welcome their fifth child in August. She revealed her small baby bump for the first time as they attended the Eddie The Eagle premiere in London last month

Alan, 39, was also keen to find out how the father-of-four is feeling about the upcoming birth of his and Jools' fifth sprog.

Unable to disguise his excitement, he gushed: 'It is so exciting. It is completely nuts. I never thought we would do this, but it happened. I just thought I would have the same amount as my family when I was growing up, but now its like Lampoon’s Vacation every time we go anywhere.

'Teenagers, little kids and now a pregnant wife. It’s amazing. I’m really excited. I love the kids and it keeps me grounded. It’s an amazing thing and I feel very grateful.'
