I gather that Kate wants to shake off those cruel ‘Duchess of Drab’ comments by opting for an Indian designer a little more risqué than Saloni, who was behind the demure navy spotted gown she wore last week at Kensington Palace to meet Indian and Bhutanese people living in Britain.

A Bibhu Mohapatra dress is believed to be among the 20 outfit choices she has taken with her on the trip. I do hope she goes for it – the designer is a true fashion favourite and dresses uber-glamorous stars such as J Lo.

This spring, the edgy designer has made androgynous drug-addicted photographer Annemarie Schwarzenbach, who died tragically young aged 34 in 1942, his season’s muse. That’ll show the critics!
