WISE HAMMONS, of Natomine, W.Va., formerly of Shouns, died Tuesday, Oct. 3, from injuries received when struck by a train, on the preceding Sunday.
He was born July 1, 1899, being 45 years of age. He was the son of the late William and Sarah HAMMONS. Mr. Hammons married Miss Lilly GAMBILL, who preceded him in death a few years ago. To this union five children were born. He later married again and one child was born.
He is survived by three sons: Clyde Hammons, Natomine, W.Va.; Art Hammons, of the U.S. Navy; George Hammons of Florida; one daughter, Mrs. James OSBORNE of Portsmouth, Va. Also survived by five sisters: Mrs. Mary FORRESTER, Mr. Jim ELLER, Mrs. Web EASTRIDGE of Shouns; Mrs. Mack HALL, Butler; Mrs. John STOUT, Natomine, W. Va.; one brother, Roosevelt Hammons of Natomine.
Funeral service were held at Hammons Chapel, Friday with Rev. J. M. Jones officiating. Donnelly Funeral Home in charge.

LINCOLN HAMMONS, age 56, died unexpectedly at his home at Shouns, Oct. 8. He had made his home in Port Angels, Wash. for the past 35 years, returning to his home here last February.
Survivors are four sisters, Mrs. Mary Forrester and Mrs. Emma Hall of Shouns; Mrs. Lou Stout of Didwell, Ohio and Mrs. Vada Eller of Mountain City; one brother, Roosevelt Hammons of Notomine, W.Va.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Hammons Chapel Christian Church with H. T. Mabry officiating.
Burial will be in Hammons cemetery.
Hill Funeral Home in charge.

Mrs. Lou Ellen Hammons, 92, died at her home, Shouns early Oct. 31. She was a native of Johnson County, and a member of the Hammons Chapel Christian Church for 66 years. She had taught the primary Sunday school class there for 63 years before ill health compelled her retirement.
Survivors include four sons, J.H., Ellis, Millard, and Cress, all of Shouns; two daughters, Mrs. T. F. BROWN and Miss Mattie HAMMONS, both of Shouns; 22 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. One sister, Mrs. Alice Reece, Bristol, Va. also survives.
Funeral was at Hammons Chapel on Thursday, Nov. 2, at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. H. D. Mabry officiating. Burial was in the Hammons cemetery.
