I am 24 and have started a new job paying £23,000 and my company wants to enrol me in the pension scheme. It offers to match what I put in up to 5 per cent of my salary but I'm worried that even though that's a small amount I can't afford this. How much will it cost me and is it worth doing for such a small amount?

By mid morning, the FTSE 100 index was up 1.5 points, or 0.1 per cent at 6,205.9, rallying from an opening low of 6,165.46, having ended 67.52 points higher on Friday - its best close since the end of December. MONEY NEWS & ADVICE
The great loyalty cards backlash: As stores cut value of rewards, savvy shoppers reveal their secret tricks to fool companies into thinking they've gone elsewhere
When it comes to loyalty cards, shoppers are increasingly finding it is disloyalty that pays. Many have discovered a series of ingenious tricks to fool retailers into thinking they have gone elsewhere. Anna Malek, 29, (top left) says she saves up to £500 a year by using two Sainsbury's Nectar cards; one in her name and the other in her husband's. And Amy Pay, 24, from Cardiff, (right) revealed she uses her myWaitrose loyalty card to 'play the system' by taking advantage of the supermarket's offer of a free coffee with any purchase.
What a catch! The ball from a top cricket match can fetch thousands - but Sir Don Bradman's cap scores even higher in the memorabilia test at £175,000
The first ball of the County Championships will be bowled today - and cricket enthusiasts can share their passion for the game by investing in related memorabilia. Tim Knight (pictured) is the owner of sports auctioneer Knights, which will be selling an Australian 'baggy green' cricket cap worn by Victor York Richardson with an estimate of £15,000 next month.
Vodafone's communications breakdown as complaints soar: Don't call us, you'll have to go to a branch, says giant - after FOUR HOURS chat
The total number of complaints about communication providers made to the Ombudsman in the first three months of this year is 53 per cent higher than in the same period last year. The Ombudsman said it could not disclose how many relate specifically to Vodafone. But the biggest issue readers say is driving them crazy is not just the fact that problems have occurred - but Vodafone's inability to sort them out.
'It's OUTRAGEOUS! Why are you giving women our jobs?': That's what some men say to the Virgin Money boss chosen by Government to shake up financial world...
Jayne-Anne Gadhia has never forgotten some startling advice she was given by a male boss early in her career. Now the chief executive of Virgin Money and one of the highest profile women in the banking world, she bristles as she recalls his comments. 'I remember him calling me one day and saying: "I think you could do quite well here Jayne-Anne, but you're too emotional and you don't have the skills needed to be a good sales person". 'I asked what were the skills needed to be a good sales person? And he said: "A thick skin and bull***t".
Vodafone customer paid £1,000 to cancel her mobile contract - but the firm STILL wouldn't let her go
Free online bill management service tells me when I should change insurer and helps me choose one
Kaan Azmi, pictured with his familty, is happy to spend time finding better financial deals - but only since he discovered a tool that reminds him to do so. BeeMyMinder - which claims to take the 'sting' out of financial decision-making - encrypts data, meaning it is kept private. It cannot 'see' the bills you upload. It is listed on the Data Protection Register, as required by law, and does not store your bank account details. It makes money via commission, when customers take products from companies it partners with.
MIDAS SHARE TIPS: How friends in high places could help crane hire group Lavendon rise above the rest
Specialising in one, rather technical area of the equipment hire market has advantages. It means Lavendon can develop relationships with top-tier construction firms, such as Balfour Beatty, Skanska and Laing O'Rourke, providing not just equipment but advice on how to use it most effectively. The group also prides itself on safety innovations, such as systems that prevent workers being crushed if they become disoriented at height and press the wrong buttons - a mistake that has cost several lives in the past.
Lettings live on despite the war on buy-to-let: The tax-efficient ways to profit from your holiday home
There is one small corner of the buy-to-let market where the Chancellor has been more lenient: holiday lets. If you buy a property and let it out for holiday use, you will still be able to set your full mortgage interest repayments against tax. Moreover, you can continue to claim full capital allowances - something that ordinary buy-to-let owners are not able to do.

'I won't take it on if it's not profitable from day one': Liberty House steel tycoon warns on rescue at Port Talbot
Sanjeev Gupta, boss of international commodities group Liberty House, told The Mail on Sunday: 'I am not going to do anything that is not profitable almost immediately. If that is not the case, then I am not in.' The profit target sets a high bar for any rescue given that the business is losing Tata more than £1million a day and suggests a deal by Gupta is far from certain.
Tesco set to unveil surprise sales lift in big turnaround profit, with bosses confident of building momentum
Respected Tesco analyst Dave McCarthy at HSBC believes Tesco might say comparable store sales, the City's preferred measure of healthy demand, increased by more than 1 per cent in the past three months. The news, due on Wednesday, that Dave Lewis has a firm grip on the company's turnaround is likely to send a chill through rivals' boardrooms. 'Tesco's sales momentum is set to continue building. Tesco is on a virtuous circle and is pulling many suppliers along with it to mutual benefit,' said McCarthy in a research report.
SMALL BUSINESS: NEWS, TIPS AND SUCCESS STORIES
'Property shake-up will cost me my living - and my home': Thriving London newsagent fights rules allowing business premises to be converted to homes
Sunny Patel's shop, Sunny News, in Southfields, South-West London, employs three part-time staff, plus paper boys delivering 400 papers a day. It has the community's backing. The landlords served a notice in June last year under the 1954 Landlord and Tenant Act declaring that he would not be granted a new lease. They also applied for permission from Wandsworth Council to convert the site to residential use.
Is Sports Direct shutting down? No but RACHEL RICKARD STRAUS thinks it wants us to think it is...
The shop has massive marker pen signs saying 'STOCK LIQUIDATION' and ALL STOCK MUST GO'. I assumed it was shutting down - but it's not. I can only imagine therefore that Sports Direct means 'all stock must go' in the traditional sense that that is the conventional aim of a retailer. But the cynic in me thinks I can't have been the only one tempted to go have a look for a bargain item thinking that the store was shutting down.
Week in the Mediterranean sun gets more expensive for British tourists as pound dives against the euro
The pound has fallen to €1.24 yesterday, the lowest since June 2014, amid growing uncertainty in the run up to June's referendum over the UK's membership in the European Union. This means that having a meal, a drink or buying a tub of suncream in many European destinations has become more expensive for British holidaymakers, according to the Post Office Travel Money's latest holiday costs barometer.
House prices jump over £20k in a year to a new record high as double digit growth returns for the first time since mid-2014
Buyers chasing a low stock of homes for sale sent prices rising by £21,587 or 10.1 per cent in the three months to March, compared to the same period a year ago. The average price is now £214,811, the latest Halifax house price index reveals. This is the biggest annual jump since July 2014 and the second biggest since the run-up to the financial crash in September 2007.
Sky giving away free 32-inch TVs to new customers - after hiking the price of packages for existing punters by up to £30 a year
If they don't want the TV, they can grab a £100 Amazon or Tesco giftcard, £100 loaded onto a prepaid Mastercard, or a Samsung Galaxy Tab E. Sky says the free TV offer is available across six bundles: The Original, The Complete, The Family, The Variety, Sky Movies and Sky Sports. Customers have to take out a 12-month contract.
Where are the best deals for your Isa cash? Anyone who took out a popular deal a year ago should move their money now
By switching your cash into a better-paying account you can boost your interest for the coming tax year (which starts today) by hundreds of pounds. Pickings are sparse. The top deals have disappeared fast over the past few days following National Savings & Investments' shock announcement last week that it is to cut its Direct Isa rate from 1.25% to just 1% in June.
Will you be a winner in the state pension revolution? It's the biggest shake-up in our pension system in a generation. But not everyone is going to be better off
The run-up to the change has been mired in controversy. False promises, misleading statements by Government ministers and a lack of practical information have undermined changes that should, in the long term, create a simpler and clearer system. So what is really happening, how can you find out what you may receive and is it possible to boost your pension?
How you can earn £17k tax free! Cash in on higher personal allowance and new tax year's savings and dividend rules
About 1.5 million people are set to benefit from the new rules and roughly half of those will save more than £50 a year in tax, according to government estimates. A new personal savings allowance entitles basic-rate taxpayers to the first £1,000 interest earned tax-free. Higher-rate payers have a £500 allowance. Additional rate 45 per cent payers get nothing.
Happy new tax year! Will you be better or worse off in 2016/17? Here are the changes you need to know about
The start of the new tax year brings a raft of changes that have consequences for your personal finances. And with so much change afoot, it can be difficult keeping up with what's going on. To make things a little easier for you, here's a list of the major changes you simply can't afford to ignore.
YOUR MONEY ESSENTIALS
Housing generation gap laid bare: Number of households making money from property triples since 1980 - while young buyers are kept off the ladder
Nearly six per cent of households are receiving income from rented properties - a figure that has tripled since the 1980s, according to data from the Office for National Statistics. This growing army of landlords has had a huge knock-on effect to younger Britons - dubbed 'generation rent' - with an explosion of those aged 26 to 30 privately renting a home.

I switched from TalkTalk to Sky in 2007 but have been charged by both ever since - now I've overpaid £1,700 and want it back!
When I moved from TalkTalk to Sky in 2007 I thought the line rental was still being charged by TalkTalk at £27.70 per month and that Sky was charging me £37.40 per month for broadband so I never questioned paying twice. Now I've found out this is an error and in fact Sky have been providing me line rental and broadband since 2007 but TalkTalk has been charging me for it as well.
