A 25-year-old New York City man is the new Guinness World Record-holder for longest TV binge-watching marathon.

Alejandro 'AJ' Fragoso, an iOS developer living in Brooklyn Heights, watched 94-straight hours of television this week, beating the previous record of 92 hours set last month by a group in Austria.

Guinness World Record officials were on stand-by at the Midtown Manhattan apartment where the competition was held to verify the record and present Fragoso with his certificate on Tuesday.

Software company CyberLink sponsored the feat and Fragoso was awarded $2,000 for his effort.

Fragoso and two friends started watching TV Friday and by Tuesday morning around 6am he was the only one left standing.

Fragoso say she and his friends picked out which shows they were going to watch ahead of time, with titles including Battlestar Galactica, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Game of Thrones, Adventure Time, the Twilight Zone and Bob's Burgers.

Contestants were allowed a five-minute break each hour to eat, sleep or go to the bathroom. Otherwise, they eyes had to be on the TV at all times and rotating judges kept an eye on the weary couch potatoes.

One of Fragoso's friends dropped out early, while the other was disqualified later on when she tried to wake Fragoso up from a nap, something he feels guilty for.

'She actually dropped because my phone alarm went off when I was taking a power nap and she just glanced away to push the phone toward me, trying to help me out,' Fragoso told Pix 11

CyberLink also sponsored a doctor to sit through the marathon, to monitor the contestants and to be on hand in case there was an emergency.

'Around the second day we started having minor hallucinations we started seeing writing on the screen that wasn't there,' Fragoso said.

After the marathon, the doctor said Fragoso had an elevated heart rate, and was suffering from neurological side effects including open-eyed micro-naps and acute hallucinations.

'Throughout this process I learned that binge-watching TV for abnormally long durations can actually be quite physically taxing,' Fragoso said, according to Variety

Fragoso added that he believes he was able to triumph thanks to his Mediterranean diet and his frequent bouts of standing and stretching.

While he thinks the record is 'a really cool story,' Fragoso admitted that he would never pull a binge-watching marathon like that again and that he doesn't recommend it to anyone.
