Rotherham is not a town great on culture. The dictionary defines culture as, amongst other things, refinement. In Rotherham, refinement is an industrial process. I don't mean this as an insult, after all I'm a Rotherhamite myself. Back in the music hall days Rotherham used to have several theatres and all the top stars of the time performed here. Even in the 1960s and 1970s places like Rawmarsh Baths used to attract rising stars: people like Lulu and Tom Jones. Nowadays there is only one regulary-used theatre. Now there are no cinemas in Rotherham, no concert halls.
Here you can have a look at the arts and crafts, dance, literature groups, the music scene, the museums and the theatres in Rotherham. There is a great deal of interest in the town concerning the various forms of performance whether singing, dancing or musical theatre.
