It is where Prince spent hours producing hit songs and videos that delighted millions of fans across the world.
So it is unsurprising that the award-winning singer's $10million mansion reflects his dedication to the industry.
A virtual tour of the Paisley Park estate in Minnesota, released a couple of years ago to fans, showed the extravagant complex, where the 57-year-old was found unresponsive in an elevator on Thursday, in all its glory.
Viewers were able to catch a glimpse of the musician's 10-man wardrobe, where dozens of his colourful outfits were likely to have been hung, as well as dance rehearsal room.

Haunting photographs showing the inside of the 50,000-acre complex where Prince was found dead have revealed how the singer was obsessed with music and loved purple. Above, one of the many rooms in the mansion
A huge recording studio, which was designed by architect Bret Theony, is where many of the star's musical instruments were kept
A huge recording studio, which was designed by architect Bret Theony, was the home to many of the star's musical instruments, with guitars propped against purple and pink chairs and a keyboard in the middle of the room.
Elsewhere in the house, a room seemingly dedicated to relaxation - with large sofas next to an acoustic performance area - was lit by purple lights.
The property also included an extravagant 'lobby' area, where the walls were painted like the sky and large balconies joined the upper floors.
Meanwhile, a glass pyramid on top of the complex, which looks more like a factory than a house, glowed purple when the star was in.

The pictures emerged as those who have worked with Prince revealed the mansion also has an underground vault full of unreleased material that can keep his legacy alive for more than a century.
Fans of the star have been speculating for years about a huge maximum-security room containing up to 2,000 hidden tracks.
But now his sound engineer Susan Rogers has confirmed the rumours are true - adding that the vault contains an unreleased song called Moonbeam Levels.

The exterior of the estate appears to consist of large grey blocks, with a small grassy area surrounding the property
The house has a futuristic style to it, with strong lines distinguishing each building and triangular doorways greeting any guests
Light is let into the mansion via a series of unusual 'four triangle' skylights, which are situated on the roof of the main building
Prince, pictured in April 2008, was found unresponsive in an elevator at the estate on Thursday and died less than 30 minutes later
Fans across the globe have spoken out about their devastation at the star's death, with some even claiming he knew it was going to happen.
Social media users claimed lyrics from his 1986 song Sometimes It Snows In April suggested he knew he was going to pass away.
It also emerged that at his last public appearance in Minnesota - less than a week before he was found dead - Prince told fans not to 'waste their prayers' on him.
He made the comment after representatives claimed he had suffered from a severe bout of flu earlier in the month.
But reports alleged yesterday that the star had actually needed a 'save shot' - an injection usually given to those who have taken a drugs overdose.
