- The cast and crew of Taxi Driver reunited four decades after it was made
- Robert De Niro played the role of troubled taxi driver Travis Bickle
- He was nominated for an Oscar at the age of 33, although he lost out to the London-born Peter Finch for Network
- Jodie Foster played a teenage prostitute in the film when she was just 13
It is a film that has stood the test of time, as powerful now as it was when it was first released.
But as the cast and crew of Taxi Driver reunited four decades after it was made, it seems they have not held back the years so successfully.
Robert De Niro’s youthful looks have given way to distinguished wrinkles and his black hair – cut into a Mohican for the film – long ago turned grey.

The role of troubled taxi driver Travis Bickle saw the actor, 72, nominated for an Oscar at the age of 33, although he lost out to the London-born Peter Finch for Network.
Jodie Foster, who played a teenage prostitute in the film when she was just 13, now cuts a distin-guished figure as a 53 year old Oscar winner.
Miss Foster was also up for an Academy Award for Taxi Driver but was beaten to the accolade by Be-atrice Straight, also from Newtork.
The reunion included Cybil Shepherd, director Martin Scorsese, Harvey Keitel, writer Paul Schrader and producer Michael Phillips.

They came together to mark the film’s 40th anniversary at the Tribeca Film Festival.
Taxi Driver told the story of Bickle who took a job as a cabbie and dreamed of violently cleaning up the streets of New York.
It is widely seen as one of the great American films. It is ranked as the 31st best film ever made – joint with the Godfather Part II – by the British Film Institute and the 47th best by the American Film Insti-tute.
