Neurotrauma research and innovation in action

ONF's focus is neurotrauma – specifically how to make a difference in the lives of Ontarians living with an acquired brain injury (ABI) or spinal cord injury (SCI), and how to prevent these injuries from happening in the first place.

Our research and funding focus on:

Neurotrauma injuries affect over half a million Ontarians and their families. While research and the development of new knowledge is an essential activity, we also identify gaps in programs and activities necessary to improve the quality of life for those living with neurotrauma and for the prevention of such injuries.

Impacting the lives of consumers and citizens

Our work may start in the research lab of a partner, but it ends in the home or community where we directly impact the life of our consumers and citizens.

Our goal is to facilitate, through research, appropriate and timely access to a continuum of healthcare services. We support best practice implementation, which means moving research and knowledge into clinical and community practice.

ONF works with provincial, national and international partners to determine the key causes of neurotrauma and to support the development of interventions and policies that make a difference. To learn about our approach to partnerships, click here. (link)
