Students need to get an above average GPA to get into the school, so it's impressive that the star has managed to do so well despite balancing her acting role on Modern Family with her voicing duties on the hit Disney show Sofia The First.

UCLA is also a good choice for the busy actress as she will be able to continue her work on Modern Family while taking classes.

The looker also has an LA-based boyfriend, Laurent Claude Gaudette. This great news comes after she had to weather cruel remarks from her estranged mother.

Crystal Workman hasn't spoken to her daughter Ariel in more than three years but now she's talking about the young star to Inside Edition.

The star's mama chastised the way Ariel has handled her life since the court-approved emancipation in a new interview with the syndicated newsmagazine.

Workman was especially critical of Ariel's decision to undergo breast reduction surgery at age 18, and then to 'flaunt her scars' months later at the Screen Actors Guild Awards in February.

'I don't think anyone at that age should be cutting into their breasts,' Ariel's mom told Inside Edition. 'I am surprised she did it so young and that the doctor did it for her so young.'

In June of last year, Ariel revealed that she had gone under the knife to reduce her bust size from 32F to 34D.

Ariel did little to conceal the lasting scars at the red carpet event while decked out in a strapless black gown with plunging back.

Workman was clearly not happy with that display, telling Inside Edition: 'I'm sorry, I just think this is inappropriate. She should never be embarrassed of her scars but she shouldn't be flaunting them.'

Ariel's mother defended herself against the remarks made by the actress on Good Morning America last month.

The teenager battled Workman in court in 2013 and accused her mother of physically abusing her before being granted emancipation a few months ago.

Ariel told GMA: 'It wasn't a supportive loving home. I had a really tough time.'

'I didn’t start this battle. I haven’t seen her in three and a half years,' Workman insisted.

'I think Ariel is conjuring up stories to help her career at my expense and I feel as a parent I am being bullied.'

While Ariel told GMA that her mom pushed her into show business, Workman said that wasn't the case.

Workman said: 'She was begging me, "I want to be on TV." She would say "I can do better than your clients." She has never been pushed into the industry. Ariel has wanted to be in the industry since she was five years old.'

'I have stood by my innocence. I have never, never abused Ariel,' added Workman.

In fact, Workman claims to be the one who has been abused, both physically and emotionally.

'I have been abused physically and I believe all of this is emotional abuse,' Workman told Inside Edition. 'Ariel should ask herself, "has Ariel ever raised her hand to her mother? Has Ariel ever done anything that she's ashamed of to her mother?"'

Ariel's spokesperson told Inside Edition: 'As we've stated previously, Ariel is happy and in a great place. We will not comment any further.'
