Lewis Hamilton says he finds it ‘really odd’ that Red Bull could quit Formula One at the end of the season and believes every team should fight for success, rather than giving up when the going gets tough.
Owner Dietrich Mateschitz has confirmed that Red Bull have set a deadline of the end of October to find a new engine or they will walk away from the sport, less than two years after winning the constructors’ championship.
The threat is huge given their four cars on the grid and recent history of dominance, but Hamilton has little sympathy and claims they are just getting ‘upset’ about not winning as much as they used to.

Red Bull owner Dietrich Mateschitz said his team will quit F1 if they do not find a suitable engine by October
‘It seems really odd for me having witnessed Red Bull's success and then the moment they don't have success they are upset about it,’ the Mercedes world champion said.
‘I've not seen that with any other team. Growing up watching F1, I never knew of Ferrari losing the championship after success, then complaining the next year.’
Hamilton is looking to extend his 48-point lead over team-mate Nico Rosberg at the Russian Grand Prix this weekend and has fond memories of Sochi.
In the future, though, the Brit is relishing more wheel-to-wheel battles with Sebastian Vettel, who won four world titles with Red Bull before moving to Ferrari.
He added: ‘I think it would be cool to see a lot more of the racing like I had with Nico (Rosberg) in Bahrain last season. It was like a karting race!’
‘It would be great if we could have more than that, week in and week out and I would love that with Sebastian.’
Max Verstappen of Scuderia Toro Rosso would also have to find a new team if Red Bull racing pull out of F1
