She had just attended the renowned Met Gala.

But it didn't take long for Selena Gomez to ditch her glamorous red carpet look for a casual pair of jeans, which she sported as she headed to a post-Met Gala dinner in New York on Monday.

The jeans hung low enough on Selena's hips that they revealed a new and colourful marking on her left hip, suggesting she may have added another tattoo to her collection.

At least one facet of Selena's Met Gala outfit remained - her hairdo and makeup, which were perfectly in tact after attending one of the hottest events in fashion of the year.

She also carried the exact same boxy clutch that she previously had in her possession on the red carpet earlier. 

Selena's jeans, meanwhile, were unbuttoned at the front and rolled up at the ankles. 

They were teamed with a low-cut black top, a long olive green coat, and a pair of black ankle boots.

Just hours earlier Selena was attending the world-famous Met Gala, which was hosted by the likes of her BFF Taylor Swift and Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour. 

The beauty looked fabulous in a studded white Louis Vuitton gown with a leather bralet and heeled combat boots.

This year's theme of the Met Gala - which is held every first Monday in May - is 'Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology. 

The once-a-year fashion event sees stars and fashionistas come together for an evening on the red carpet, all to benefit the Costume Institute.

Selena, meanwhile, recently insisted she isn't too worried about the negative comments she gets because of her huge levels of success, as she's been 'doing this long enough' to realize people will always criticize her, she told E! News.

'I think I've been doing this long enough to realize that no matter what people perceive of me, I always shine through at the end of the day. 

'So I've had a lot of people try to tear me down, but I'm here. I've always been myself,' the ex of Justin Bieber told the website .
