The photographs are all the work of renowned American photographer Steve Schapiro, now 82, for his new book Bowie, and features the young artist between 1974 and 1975. Most of the enchanting images are previously unpublished, and many were taken during an epic photo shoot, which took place in Los Angeles in 1974 and lasted from 4pm until dawn. Young Sumatran orangutan Nyaru, who was born and raised at Perth Zoo, will be flown to Indonesia next week and released in the wild. Perth Zoo is the only zoo in the world breeding critically endangered Sumatran orangutan in captivity and releasing them in their native habitat. Nyaru will be the third the zoo has sent to Sumatra. After being raised by his mother, the eight-year-old underwent the zoo's five-stage jungle school program, which includes exposure to live trees, socialising with 12 other orangutans and learning orientation and nesting skills. He'll be given a 'soft' introduction and monitored.
