Top Gear co-presenters Chris Evans and Matt LeBlanc high-five and test-drive spectacular sports cars in the latest teaser trailer for the show - but viewers are left unconvinced with the majority giving it the 'thumbs down' on YouTube.

The video was posted online yesterday and has already been met with a barrage of negative comments from fans of the original show, despite the duo doing their best to dispel rumours of a rift between them.

One wrote: 'R.I.P TOP GEAR you will never be the same,' while another added: 'None of this deserves to be called Top Gear.'

The latest teaser trailer attempts to showcase some of the celebrities who will be joining the six presenters - seven including The Stig - when the revamped show returns at the end of the month.

The clip was released coincide with the start of the British summer and features a sopping Chris Evans and Matt LeBlanc standing in the rain.

The teaser trailer begins with the anorak-clad duo receiving a welcoming from the mayor in front of Blackpool Tower.

Dodgy track Staying Out for the Summer then cuts the sound of rain falling and the Radio 2 DJ is filmed driving a Ferrari 250GT TdF in the sun.

Celebrity guests including blues musician Seasick Steve, Scottish singer Sharleen Spiteri and English rapper Tinie Tempah are all later featured driving or being driven in an array of sports cars.

And Evans and LeBlanc are seen bonding in the clip, with the Radio 2 DJ commenting: 'Got the best view my brother,' before the former Friends actor, in another part of the world, says: 'Look at this view you guys.'

The pair were said to have fallen out following the Cenotaph stunt, which received criticism from politicians and a former Army chief.

Evans later took to Twitter to deny a rift, saying: 'Just been on the phone to Matt Le Blanc to confirm we are 'at war' as reported in The Sun today. He says, 'sure, whatever..' Why I oughta!'

In a similar fashion to the original Top Gear series, featuring Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May, the presenters are seen behind the wheel of a number of very different cars.

From the classic Ferrari in the first scene, to an Aston Martin Vulcan on the Abu Dhabi GP circuit and a Mercedes Benz 4x4 being pushed to the limit by the lead singer of Texas, Sharleen Spiteri.

LeBlanc is also seen tackling Moroccan dunes in an Ariel Nomad buggy, suggesting the show will continue to feature everything from the top-of-the-range to the every man and the bizarre.

But despite a number of dream cars and locations, the video has been met with mostly 'thumbs down' by viewers on YouTube.

The trailer has so far picked up 114,427 views with 2,048 people showing their appreciation and giving it a 'thumbs up'. But 3,819 did not seem to be convinced and gave the clip a 'thumbs down'.

Commenting on the video, one disappointed viewer wrote: 'The good thing is it doesn't look forced at all.' While another simply said: 'Not ambitious and rubbish.'

A third wrote: 'Give me Clarkson or give me death,' and a fourth added: 'I came... I saw... I disliked.'

Many unhappy fans have previously bemoaned the Americanisation of the show and said the new presenters were not as funny as the original trio.

Clarkson was sacked from Top Gear after punching a producer on the show in a row about steak, although he has now officially apologised to producer Oisin Tymon - after settling a six-figure claim.

Clarkson flew into a rage after being told he could not order a sirloin steak after a day of filming in March last year, during a confrontation at a hotel.

The fracas led to him being sacked from Top Gear, with Hammond and May jumping ship shortly afterwards in support of their friend.

The New Top Gear series is set to return on BBC Two on Sunday, May 29.
