For one night only! A slimmed down Chris Moyles is unrecognisable as he celebrates triumphant night on stage after appearance in Matthew Perry's West End play

He's overhauled his diet and exercise regime in recent years.

And the results were clear to see as Chris Moyles made his West End debut on Friday night, making an appearance in Friends star Matthew Perry's play The End of Longing.

Chris, 42, looked in great spirits as he posed for photos with the production's writer and leading man after making his debut in a role as a barman.

Chris, 46, was dapper in his costume of a waistcoat and bow tie, after a night of treading the boards.

The ex Radio 1 star, who now hosts the Radio X breakfast show, looked in great spirits as he flashed a huge smile for the cameras while receiving congratulatory kisses from cast members Christina Cole and Jennifer Mudge.

While his night went well, Chris couldn't resist sharing a cheeky social media update just before he went on stage, writing on Twitter: 'I am absolutely not tweeting from the side of the stage during my west end debut...'

Matthew has had a turbulent ride with his West End play, which he has written and starred in.

He told Radio 2 last month that he's constantly altering script during the show's run, which has attracted some less than positive reviews from London's theatre critics.

'You're wearing two hats,' he said of his behind the scenes and on stage roles. 'The good news is we keep changing it, if jokes don't work we keep changing it around because I'm the playwright so I'm allowed to do that.'

'I wrote this in about ten days and I've been rewriting it for about a year,' he added.

He also admitted he didn't plan on taking the lead role at first, explaining: 'I did not know I was going to star in it, I wrote a ton of roles sort of in my voice but there was a lot of talk about other people playing the part. But I ended up playing it.

Matthew's play, about the lives of four troubled souls hoping to find love and contentment, was badly received by a majority of critics during its press night, but Perry has had the last laugh as it was revealed this week that it is the Playhouse Theatre's most successful play to run at the venue.

The production has sold more than 62,000 tickets, making well over a £1millon.

Matthew said in a statement as his play enters its final week in London: 'It has been amazing bringing my debut play, to the West End. I have loved spending the last four months in London, and receiving such a warm response from audiences to The End of Longing.'

'All of the cast, and I, have enjoyed the laughter and tears from the audience and can't believe we only have ten days left before it's all over! London you've been a blast, you've not seen the last of me - I will really miss being here and performing for all of you guys!'

The End of Longing runs at London's Playhouse Theatre until May 14.
