Heart on her sleeve! Melissa McCarthy wears shirt covered in sweet Mother's Day messages from her daughters as she runs errands in LA

She was soaring through the air earlier this week while filming Ghostbusters.

But Melissa McCarthy's feet were firmly planted on the ground as she ran errands in Studio City, California on Mother's Day.

And in honor of the special holiday the 45-year-old actress donned a white tee with colourful messages from her daughters which included, 'I love you.'

The Oscar-nominated star had several messages and pictures drawn on her shirt as a gift from her two girls - Vivian, aged eight, and six-year-old Georgette 'Georgie.'

She went with a laid back look - as all moms should on their special day - in black sweatpants, matching flip flops and a grey scarf wrapped loosely around her neck.

Her brunette tresses were covered underneath a baseball cap and she wore dark oversize movie star shades.

The make-up free star showed off her flawless complexion and upgraded her low-key ensemble with a black leather Givenchy handbag.

Melissa - who was named the third-highest paid actress in 2015 by Forbes - was spotted on the Los Angeles set of her highly anticipated Ghostbusters reboot.

The comedienne was suspended in midair while filming scenes and seemed to be doing her own stunts as she was hooked up to a rig.

Those familiar with the action/comedy franchise noticed that she had a proton pack strapped to her back as she aimed the gun while floating around.

As she seemed to have a blast while hanging in the air, Melissa could be seen flipping her acting switch on like ever the acting professional as she went from smiles to screams.

Once cameras were rolling, McCarthy had a troubled look on her face and appeared to be screaming.

McCarthy stars in the supernatural comedy along with costars Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones which is scheduled for a US release on July 15.

And it's been a busy year for the Bridesmaid actress who just finished promoting The Boss, which was directed by Melissa's husband, Ben Falcone, 42.

The star told Refinery29 she never tires of working with her spouse.

'I don't know if that makes us crazy. It’s fun to work together. We spend a lot of time making sure our sets are fun,' she explained.

'We met doing this, and that’s how we became such good friends. When [we had to] pick somebody to write with, we always picked each other.'
