New lawyers at City firm see their pay soar by 26% to £85,000
Newly qualified lawyers at City law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer have seen their pay soar by 26 per cent to £85,000.
The solicitors will see their pay packets rise from £67,500 at present. Those with two or three years’ experience could see their salaries jump to up to £115,000.
First and second-year trainees have also received a £2,000 annual pay rise to £43,000 and £48,000 respectively. More of them than ever before will be expected to continue at the firm after they complete their training contract to see the substantial hike in pay.
Pay rise: Solicitors at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer will see their pay packets rise from £67,500 to £85,000
Freshfields now dominates the salary league table at newly qualified associate level, something that partners hope will keep legal talent in the firm for years.
Rumours of an associate exodus over a pay freeze had been circling the City for months and the firm had come under pressure in recent years to increase pay as newly qualified solicitors considered moving to rival ‘magic circle’ firms.
