May the beard be with you! Harrison Ford sports thick grey facial hair and funky red shades during solo outing in Santa Monica

Harrison Ford sported a thick grey beard on Thursday during a solo outing in Santa Monica, California.

The 73-year-old actor kept it casual in a grey T-shirt and dark jeans while running errands.

The Star Wars star accessorised with bright red sunglasses and a watch while out and about.

Harrison played Han Solo in the Star Wars trilogy between 1977 and 1983 and reprised his role last year for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Carrie Fisher who played Princess Leia and Mark Hamill who portrayed Luke Skywalker also returned for the blockbuster sequel.

Harrison also will reprise his role as Rick Deckard in the upcoming sequel Blade Runner 2 directed by Denis Villeneuve. 

The film also starring Robin Wright, Ryan Gosling and Dave Bautista is due out on October 6, 2017.

It also was previously announced that Harrison will once again portray Indiana Jones in a fifth installment of the franchise.

The film to be directed by Steven Spielberg was scheduled for release on July 19, 2019. 

Harrison last month auctioned off his iconic Han Solo leather jacket from Star Wars: The Force Awakens and it sold for $191,000.

The actor donated the proceeds to NYU Langone Medical Center and the FACES Foundation (Finding A Cure for Epilepsy and Seizures) in honor of his daughter Georgia Ford, 25, who has been living with epilepsy.

Harrison has been married since June 2010 to actress Calista Flockhart and they are parents to her teenage adopted son Liam. 

He also has two sons Benjamin and Willard from his first marriage as well as Georgia's brother Malcolm from his second marriage.
