Be careful what you say Camilla! Duchess of Cornwall sticks to taking selfies with guests at Buckingham Palace just days after the Queen's garden party slip

  • Camilla, 68, looked radiant in a pale pink ensemble at the garden party
  • She appeared in good spirits as she met with royal couturier Bruce Oldfield
  • Garden party was held in honour of Barnardo's 150th anniversary
  • The Duchess has been president of children's charity since 2007

The Duchess of Cornwall looked resplendent in a pink skirt suit and broad-brimmed hat at a Buckingham Palace garden party held in honour of Barnardo's 150th anniversary today.

And while she posed for selfies with guests and chatted to old friend and couturier Bruce Oldfield, it's unlikely the 68-year-old said anything she shouldn't have.

Her appearance in the palace's grounds comes after the Queen's unguarded comments about President Xi's 'rude' officials at another garden party caused embarrassment earlier this week.

But Camilla, who is President of Barnardo's, appeared to be unaffected by the rare diplomatic gaffe and seemed at ease as she met with guests in the sunshine earlier today.

She looked to be in good spirits as she met with royal couturier Bruce Oldfield, who is vice-president of the charity.

The Duchess certainly had heads turning in a wide-brimmed blush hat adorned with an elegant floral embellishment.

She chose a large pearl choker featuring a stunning pink topaz clasp for the occasion, believed to have been given to her by Prince Charles, along with a matching pair of pearl earrings, to accessorise her outfit.

She finished the pretty ensemble off with a pair of beige court shoes, while holding a pair of white gloves in her hands.

Camilla was happy to pose for photographs with guests and even stopped for a selfie with a guest who was dressed to impress in a bold purple fascinator.

The Duchess was appointed president of Barnardo's in 2007, succeeding Cherie Blair.

The garden party was designed to thank dedicated staff, volunteers and supporters for their hard work and commitment to the charity over the years.

The charity was founded in 1866 by Irish philanthropist Thomas Barnardo to care for vulnerable children and young people.
