Michael Jackson's controversial doctor Conrad Murray says Prince's physician needs a good attorney - as he reveals the King of Pop dismissed his longtime rival was just a 'WANNABE'

  • Murray was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in 2011 following the death of Michael Jackson
  • The singer died two years prior after overdosing on propofol, an anesthetic provided by Murray
  • The doctor was sentenced to four years in prison but was released after two years for good behavior
  • Prince's official cause of death hasn't been announced and his doctor hasn't been charged
  • The singer was pictured walking out of a Walgreens pharmacy just 15 hours before his death in April

The doctor who spent two years in jail following Michael Jackson's death by overdose told Prince's physician to brace himself for a tough legal battle.

A jury found Dr Conrad Murray guilty of involuntary manslaughter in 2011, two years after Jackson died after taking propofol, an anesthetic made available to him by Murray.

Prince's official cause of death hasn't been announced yet - but photos of the singer leaving a Walgreens pharmacy 15 hours before his death in April, combined with the testimonies of several sources, suggested a possible overdose.

The singer's doctor hasn't been charged and there have been no allegations of wrongdoing but Murray shared his advice regardless during an interview with Inside Edition on Tuesday.

'I would say clearly he needs an attorney, and a good one, because we have what we call "regular justice" and "celebrity justice,"' Murray said.

He was sentenced to four years in prison following Jackson's 2009 death - but was released after two years for good behavior.

His license got revoked in Texas and was suspended in California and Nevada.

'I've lost everything. Everything I've amassed has been taken from me as a result of an unjust verdict. I am and I remain an innocent man,' he told Inside Edition.

Authorities haven't released the results of Prince's autopsy, which was practiced on April 22.

They said it would take weeks for the findings to be made public and haven't provided a specific date.

Meanwhile, Murray told Inside Edition he wasn't responsible for Jackson's death.

'On the bottle there are clear instructions. If Prince as an adult chooses to take 15 pills every six hours versus two pills every six hours, in the absence of a doctor, do you hold him responsible?' Murray asked during his interview.

He also told the network that Jackson 'didn't like' Prince and thought of him as a pale copy of himself.

'I felt there may have been an inherent competition. I think Michael felt that he had always set himself apart,' Murray said.

'I think he thought Prince was a want-to-be.'

Prince was pictured walking out of a Walgreens pharmacy just 15 hours before his death - his fourth visit to the store in a week according to TMZ.

People inside became concerned for his health as Prince looked 'much more frail and nervous than usual', the website wrote.

The photos sparked suspicion of a possible overdose, reinforced by reports that Prince had needed a 'safe shot' after the emergency landing of his plane just six days before his death.

Several sources told TMZ Prince had received the shot, typically used to work against the effects of opiates, after his private jet stopped in Moline, Illinois.

Investigators are working to determine whether Prince overdosed on the flight and before his death.
