'I've got beef with her': Laurence Fox slams estranged wife Billie Piper's mother as he dedicates song about warring couple to her

Actor-turned-singer Laurence Fox hinted at a feud between himself and his estranged wife Billie's Piper's mother during a recent gig in Manchester.

The Mirror reports that Laurence took to the stage and engaged in a passionate rant about Mandy Kane Kent, while dedicating his song, So Be Damned to her.

He revealed that he wrote the track, which is about a battling couple - about her, saying they had 'beef.'

The star simply said: 'This is a song about my soon to be ex-mother-in-law. I s*** you not...I've got beef with her, man.'

The opening lyrics give a hint of his sadness as he sings: 'You say that the one sent to guide you wants you to fall. You say that you should’ve seen him coming after it all.

'And you can’t cry anymore, you’ve never been down this road before.'

Billie was granted a 'quickie' divorce from her actor husband Laurence Fox in a court ruling that took just 50 seconds earlier this month, citing unreasonable behaviour.

The actress, 33, was not present when her request for a decree nisi from the 37-year-old was granted on the grounds that the marriage had 'irretrievably broken down' on the grounds of his 'unreasonable behaviour'.

The couple - who have two sons Winston, seven, and four-year-old Eugene - wed in 2007 after meeting in a stage production the previous year but their separation was announced this March via a Facebook post.

A statement made on Thursday clarified the terms of their separation, saying: 'Billie and Laurence wish to clarify that the legal wording referred to in connection with today's reported Decree Nisi is the closest option English law currently offers to a timely no fault divorce.

'They will continue to co parent their children with the utmost mutual respect for each other. Billie and Laurence appeal for privacy at this time.'

'Unreasonable behaviour' is among one of the most common wordings of divorce proceedings and can cover a number of problems, though around three to six examples are expected in petitions.

A person cannot seek a divorce on the grounds of their own 'unreasonable behaviour'.

It was Laurence who announced on his social media page that they had split after eight years of marriage and he was quick to insist that no-one else was involved in the separation.

His simple post read: 'Laurence Fox and Billie Piper have separated. No third parties are involved. For the sake of our family we request and appeal for space and privacy at this time'.

The divorce petition was made in her full name Billie Paul Piper against Laurence Paul Fox but neither party was present for the brief hearing at the Central Family Court.

It is the second divorce for Billie who claimed in court papers that the unreasonable behaviour by Laurence was continuing.

She was previously famously married to TV presenter Chris Evans at the age of 19, which meant that there was a 16-year age gap between the two of them.

Chris, now 50, and Billie married in Las Vegas in 2001, separated in 2004 and divorced in May 2007 but remain good friends.

Billie is currently starring as Brona Croft in the TV series Penny Dreadful but met Laurence when they performed together in the stage play Treats in 2006, calling it 'Love at first sight'.

They married on 31 December the following year, in the 12th century parish church of St. Mary's Eastbourne, West Sussex.

They got matching tattoos on their honeymoon to celebrate their marriage but it has recently been reported that she wishes to remove the finger inking, which says 'Fox'.

A source told The Sun at the end of March: 'Billie has talked about getting the tattoo removed recently. She hadn't told many people there were problems with her and Laurence so many were surprised she'd want to laser it off.

'Now they’ve announced the split it makes more sense. She’s often had to cover it up with make- up for work anyway.'

She has even expressed regret over the matching inkings in the past, calling it 'disgusting' and 'vulgar'.

Second divorce: Billie was previously famously married to Chris Evans (right, in February 2004) but their age gap proved to be too much to contend with and they divorced in 2007

Until recently, the couple lived together in a country cottage in the market town of Midhurst, West Sussex.

They rehomed in north London with a four-bedroom home two years ago, following reports that she was going 'stir crazy.'

One long-standing friend revealed: 'Laurence loved it down there but Billie was going stir crazy. Ultimately they are very different people, and while he loves living like a bit of a recluse, Billie needed something more.'

Explaining the breakdown, the acquaintance added: 'It has always been a tempestuous relationship. Laurence has a serious temper and they began arguing more and more. In the end Billie gave him an ultimatum to change and, sadly, he wasn't able to do so.'

Laurence is best known for his leading role as Detective Inspector James Hathaway in the TV drama Lewis.

In February released his debut album Holding Patterns as a singer, songwriter and guitarist, but now it's been pointed out that his album gave an early insight into the marriage breakdown.

Following the split announcement, it was reported that Holding Patterns, released in January, was full of personal lyrics and hinted at problems in the marriage.

Billie was signed a recording contract at the age of 15 and her debut single Because We Want To went to No.1, making her the youngest ever artist to top the charts with her first record. She also had a double platinum selling album Honey to the B.

She became an actress in 2004 and her most famous role was Rose Tyler as a companion to Dr. Who from 2005 to 2006.

She also played Bell de Jour in the TV series Secret Diary of a Call Girl.
