'I was throwing a fit!' Lauren Conrad spills on how The Hills producers 'locked me in a basement' at Heidi and Spencer's wedding and other secrets

The Hills kept viewers captivated for six seasons but the behind-the-scenes drama is turning out to be even more epic.

Lauren Conrad and her co-stars from the 2006-2010 reality show are speaking out on what really went on and how it was mostly scripted for shock value.

The 30-year-old fashion designer and author described to Us Weekly one bizarre incident in which she was locked up in a church basement at Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt's wedding.

Lauren, who is now married to William Tell, insists producers 'wouldn't let me leave.'

The Hills starred Lauren, Audrina Patridge, Heidi Montag and Whitney Port, and they were soon joined by Lo Bosworth, Brody Jenner, Kristin Cavallari, Spencer Pratt, Jason Wahler and Justin Bobby.

The episode that revolved around Heidi's April 2009 wedding to Spencer stands out in Lauren's mind.

'I needed to leave by a certain time because my boyfriend (Kyle Howard) was premiering an indie film,' Lauren told Us Weekly.

'And the power and generator went out in the church. The producers literally locked me in the basement with two security guards and wouldn't let me leave.'

She added: ' I was throwing a fit.'

Lauren managed to sneak out a side door later on.

Producer Adam DiVello told Us Weekly that they were merely keeping Lauren and her nemesis Kristin Cavallari away from each other before the cameras were ready to capture their tense meeting.

'She might have felt locked in, but she was not,' DiVello said of Conrad.

Lauren was a bit of a spitfire and fought against the scripted scenes because 'it felt so 'dishonest.'

'You know what you did': Lauren confronted Heidi about spreading sex tape lies but Spencer (pictured with his wife Heidi  on May 13) told Us Weekly, 'It wasn't a rumor because a rumor implies that something is not true'

Her frenemy Audrina Patridge told the publication that there would be 'screaming matches about us faking the show all the time' between Lauren and producers.

The show started off about four twentysomething girls who were friends, but Audrina said: 'Once we all started bringing guys into the picture, that's when things got sticky.'

Some scenes were all too real like the time Lauren confronted her former best friend Heidi about spreading the rumor that she'd made a sex tape with Jason Wahler.

Lauren blurted out: 'You know what you did.'

Heidi told Us Weekly: 'I was upset because I was unjustly portrayed as something I wasn't. She was my best friend and she wouldn't give me more of a conversation.'

Spencer insisted he didn't start the sex tape rumor, telling Us Weekly: 'But it wasn't a rumor because a rumor implies that something is not true.'
