Tom Cruise has sold the Los Angeles mansion he shared with ex-wife Katie Holmes.

The star offloaded his seven-bedroom, 10,000 square foot mansion in Beverly Hills for $40 million,TMZ reports.

The buyer was billionaire Leon Black, the founder of private equity group Apollo Global Management, the gossip site reports.

The actor originally listed the home for $50 million, Variety reported in September. 

The estate, set in the exclusive area of Los Angeles, has seven bedrooms, nine bathrooms and a tennis court with basketball hoops.

The lavish property also boasts a lap swimming pool, a children's playground and several guest houses, and has a private driveway.

Tom and Katie purchased the home for $30.5 million in 2007, one year after their daughter Suri was born. The pair divorced in 2012.

The 53-year-old has been quietly offloading his properties lately.

In October, he sold his gated Hollywood Hills home to actress Eva Longoria for $11.4 million, The Los Angeles Times reported.

He put his 33-acre retreat in Telluride, Colorado, which he designed himself, on the market last year for $59 million.

And the Edge of Tomorrow star sold his relatively-modest two-bedroom apartment in New York's East Village for $3 million in 2013.

Meanwhile, Tom has been hard at work filming his new movie The Mummy in the UK.

The Tom Gun star plays Navy Seal Tyler Colt, who goes on a mission in the Iraqi desert and stumbles across a mystical and deadly ancient tomb. 

He was seen looking focused while filming action scenes in Surrey on Friday. 

The reboot of the classic monster movie will be released on June 9, 2017.
