His life was forever changed when he discovered as a teenager that his father was action hero Arnold Schwarzenegger.

And as Joseph Baena enjoyed a game of American football on the beach with a pal on Monday, it was clear the teen is following in the athletic footsteps of his famous father.

Flexing his muscles, the beefy 18-year-old effortlessly tossed the ball as he tore around the sand in Malibu.

Joesph, who wore a pair of board shorts for his workout, jumped into the waves to catch the ball, showing off his talent as he did so.

It's little wonder that the teen is such great shape - Joseph has been working out under the tutelage of his father.

Just last month, Arnie watched with undisguised pride as his son lifted 55lb dumbbells at Gold's gym in Venice Beach.

That's the same cult gym Arnie himself frequented back in the 60s and 70s, when he was making a name for himself as a bodybuilder.

And that's not the only way the former California governor's youngest son takes after him.

Joseph is a business major at the exclusive private university Pepperdine, in Malibu.

Austrian born Arnold, 68, also got his business degree - in his case at University of Wisconsin when he was 31.

He took courses online as well as a smattering of classes taken at Santa Monica City College and UCLA extension.

It sure worked for Arnie - the body builder turned action star turned governor has had unbelievable success in movies, politics, business and real estate investments.

Joseph is the Terminator's love child from a fling he had in the 1990s.

Mildred Patricia Baena, who goes by Patty, who was employed as a housekeeper in the Schwarzenegger household.

Arnold - who was married to Maria Shriver at the time - had an affair with married Patty, who then fell pregnant with Joseph in 1997.

It only came to light that the action hero had fathered a love child in 2011, when Maria, 60, ended the marriage and moved out of their home.

The actor himself was unaware he was Joseph’s father for many years, and told 60 minutes that it wasn’t until the boy 'started looking like me, that's when I kind of got it. I put things together'.

Arnold and Maria have four children together - Katherine, 26, Christina, 24, Patrick, 22, and Christopher, 18, who was born just five days before his half-brother.

While the Junior star is still working on building a relationship with Joseph, he is said to have bought his son's mother a four-bedroom home with a swimming pool in Bakersfield.

He also gifted the teenager a $30,000 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon for Christmas in 2014, a month before he got his driver’s license.

And Arnie is thought to support his son in other ways.

The cost of attending Pepperdine and living on campus for the 2015-2016 school year comes with a staggering price tag of about $67,150.

The pricey tuition has led to speculation that Arnold himself is footing the bill for his mini-me to pursue higher education.

If so, the investment has already paid off.

Joseph was recently honored by Pepperdine for his 'Student Philanthropy.'

'It shows his commitment to the school, and it's a great way to meet other students,' a source at the school told DailyMail.com.
