Sophia Hewson, a Melbourne artist who filmed herself 'being raped' by a stranger for a new exhibition she invited to her apartment in New York, says the piece is designed to challenge the power men hold in society. Veronica Erin Staley, 34, (left and mugshot inset) was taken into custody in Houston, Texas, on Wednesday morning after she allegedly shot Aljosa Memovic, 30, multiple times. According to police, Staley had been waiting for him outside the One 2 One Training Center for an hour when she noticed him leave. She then allegedly walked up to him and shot him three times near the entrance. The gunshots didn't force him to collapse, so he ran across the parking lot screaming: 'Oh my God, oh my God'. Staley allegedly followed him and shot him twice more, and realizing she had run out of bullets, she pistol-whipped him.

An  architectural project branded the 'ultimate Bond villain lair' is now set to be built in Lebanon after its designs went viral last year. Baby Coral, who was born in North Hawaii in March, has attracted almost a million views after her parents Michael & Andrea Rader posted the image on photo sharing website Imgur yesterday. Users were fascinated by the image of long-haired Coral, which her parents posted online with the simple message, 'Our daughter is only two months old'. Researchers in Austria and Hungary used lasers to measure tree movements during the hours of darkness and found their branches dropped by up to four inches during the night before rising again in the morning. By monitoring a series of laser points on the trees, they discovered that those above 16 feet (five meters) dropped their branches up to four inches (10cm) after dark (center and left in blue). To confirm their findings they used infra-red (left) which is reflected by the leaves, to study their nocturnal movements.

Russian Blue cat Kevin suffers from hydrocephalus - excess fluid on the brain. It means he is partially blind and deaf and stuck with a permanently surprised expression, but his owner Tailah describes him as 'happiest funniest, silliest little kid'. Kevin was abandoned in a car park at four weeks old before veterinary nurse Tailah adopted him. He wasn't expected to live past six months old, but he has defied the odds, and become an Instagram star in the process.

A video showing Nate Pacius, 26, propose to girlfriend Jasmine Baker, 27, both from Neptune Township, New Jersey, after a game of musical chairs, pictured left, at her graduation party has been watched more than 5.6 million times. Jasmine, pictured right with Nate after the proposal, was overcome with emotion and cried.

The squirrel, which appears to be of the grey variety, was most likely hit by a vehicle as it was attempting to cross the road in Pennsylvania. Rather than removing the poor animal and burying it by the side of the road, it seems the road workers chose to paint straight over it.
