Followers of a Shia Muslim sect, who were convicted of female genital mutilation, should serve jail time instead of home detention in order to deter others, a court has heard. A mother who can't be named, midwife Kubra Magennis and Dawoodi Bohra sect community leader Shabbir Mohammedbhai Vaziri were each handed a minimum 11 month custodial sentence. Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia Resort 17 has closed with a jaw-dropping collection by New York fashion house Oscar de la Renta. The show, held at Sydney venue Carriageworks, marked Oscar de la Renta's runway debut in Australia, and featured a range of couture and ready-to-wear pieces. Australian model Shanina Shaik stunned in a soft cream gown embellished with gold (second left) and the feminine piece embodied the tone of the show, that was both lady-like and feminine. NEW Sean Penn's new movie The Last Face was savaged after its premiere at Cannes on Friday, where viewers booed and guffawed. His latest directorial effort, after his 2007 film Into the Wild, stars Charlize Theron as an international aid worker in Liberia who falls in love with a doctor, played by Javier Bardem (inset left). Dilek Edwards (left) alleged that she was sacked from the Wall Street chiropractic clinic that self-confessed lesbian Stephanie Adams (right), 45, owns with her doctor husband, Charles Nicolai (pictured inset with the son he shares with Ms Adams). However a Manhattan judge ruled on Thursday that Ms Edwards' suit didn't contain any allegations that she was fired 'because of her status as a woman'. In court papers filed in November 2013, Ms Edwards said that Mr Nicolai warned her in June that his wife 'might become jealous' after she gave him yoga-therapy sessions to help with chronic pain, telling her 'it had to be a secret.'

NEW The Michigan Uber driver accused of killing six people in a brutal shooting spree was dragged out of the courtroom by deputies on Friday morning. Jason Dalton raised his voice and interrupted the testimony of one of the two people who survived the horrific rampage, causing the woman to break down in tears on the stand. Dalton also shouted about people with 'black bags' before Judge Christopher Haenicke was forced to call a recess as Dalton was removed from the room.

The sister of controversial former Auburn councillor Salim Mehajer, Aiisha took to Instagram on Friday with drastically different coloured hair in a sponsored post promoting contact lenses (right). Earlier this month Daily Mail Australia revealed the drastic transformation Aiisha had undergone since her teenage years (left). Footage shows two thugs ambush the group as they were relaxing outside a property in Braybrook, west of Melbourne. One man violently shoves a woman to the ground before punching the other. The other attacker, brandishing a large wooden pole, strikes the male victim - knocking him to the ground.

And now, there's a new viral hashtag doing the rounds on Instagram, which sees mothers upload photos of themselves breastfeeding in funny or slightly unusual places and situations, alongside the caption #whereareyoufeedingtoday. Dayne Levinrad, of The Grind Coffee Company, in South Africa, launched the product and he now claims there have been nearly one million images posted using the #coffeeinacone around the world. The coffee combines ice cream, coffee and chocolate - all Instagram favourites - while topping off with foaming milk in a heart shape. Although it sounds like a recipe for a leaking disaster, Dayne quickly found he couldn't use ordinary cones. He had to be inventive. The answer was to make their own cones and use four layers of chocolate to reinforced them, also adding different percentages of cocoa to each layer of coating inside.

NEW The video shows the moment Ron-Wailer the Rottweiler helps shovel dirt onto the body of his friend Chocolate in the city of Copiapo, Atacama region. Ron and Chocolate's owner Carlos Aguilar claims the dog was poisoned, saying that an unknown local 'pet killer' has poisoned seven of his dogs. Mr Aguilar posted the heartbreaking video on Facebook, which shows how Ron uses his snout to push earth onto the body of Chocolate who is lying lifeless in a dug out grave.

Richard Rasmussen, 36, has been called Brazil's version of Bear Grylls and was out in his native country filming a segment explaining tidal bores waves. Rasmussen can be seen talking to the camera about the phenomenon, and as he turns around to show how amazing a tidal bore can be, it dawns on him that it is about to come down on him. He is forced to flee the mass of water, running away with the wave hot at his heels.

NEW Three adorable baby owls have melted the hearts of millions on the Chinese internet after they got lost at a Chinese forest park. The tiny birds have been picked up by rangers at Pu'er National Forest Park in the province of Yunnan recently, according to local media. Keepers at the park have adopted the young bird and hope to release them back to nature in three months.
