'I wasn’t an overnight success': New mom Rose Byrne flashes cleavage for Playboy as she talks her climb in Hollywood and how LA is 'strange'

Rose Byrne is Hollywood's current It girl.

The Australian actress who has two new blockbuster films hitting theaters this month -- Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising on May 20 and X-Men: Apocalypse on May 27-- candidly sat down for Playboy magazine’s June issue of 20Q.

The 36-year-old star looked ravishing in red as she flashed her cleavage and admitted she 'definitely wasn't an overnight success.'

'I went to Los Angeles when I was 18 or 19 and spent time out there. I went back and forth for about three years before I got a job in America.'

Rose confessed, 'And I didn’t take to it at first. In my own naive way I felt prepared for LA, but nothing can ever really prepare you for L.A. It’s such a strange place.'

The brunette beauty, who only gave birth three months ago, stunned in the candy apple red silk long-sleeved dress. The low-cut frock showed off her ample decolletage and revealed a hint of a black lacy bra underneath.

The Bridesmaid star opened up about her famous longtime love, Bobby Cannavale, 46. The pair who've collaborated on three films together (Spy, Adult Beginners and Annie) are 'big theater-goers.'

She said, 'Bobby is, you know, Bobby Broadway. We’re a couple of theater geeks.'

The couple who've been together since 2012 became parents in February when they welcomed son Rocco into the world. The actress told the magazine she definitely has noticed similarities to her own parents, now that she's a new mom.

'Luckily, I like my parents, so it’s cool. But it’s funny how it manifests itself.'

Rose continued, 'My parents are very no-nonsense Australians: They don’t like fanfare or fussiness. They’re incredibly self-sufficient and curious. I hope I’m like them in those ways.'

As X-Men nears its release date, the actress talked about her character, Moira MacTaggert and how she stays ageless.

'Twenty years have passed, and yeah, she looks pretty good. Everyone joked about it on set. Does time not apply to these characters?'

She joked, 'The mutants can probably get away with not aging, but I’m a mortal. Moira might have a good plastic surgeon.'

Leaving no stone unturned the mom-of-one also talked about Star Wars.

She still gets attention for her role in Star Wars: Episode II—Attack of the Clones.

Rose gushed, 'I mean, talk about the fans! I have one line in that movie. It’s a stretch to say I have a character at all. But to this day 90 percent of the fan mail I get is from Star Wars—90 percent—to sign pictures of me in a purple snood.'

On women in comedy, she said, 'With Bridesmaids, all the press focused on was ‘Wow, they’re all women, and they’re funny!’ You would never say that about a comedy with all guys. No one would say, ‘They’re men, and they’re funny!’ We were really treated like aliens in the press.'

The conversation then turned political. 'I’m fascinated, just riveted. Coming from Australia, the political world here is so much larger than life,' she said.

Rose admitted, 'This whole Donald Trump thing is such an unusual phenomenon. Australian politics are like a sedative compared to this spectacle.'

The actress confessed she has a real life mutation of her own. 'I have remarkably small ears. It’s almost a mutation how small they are. They look slightly weird, but I can hear very well.'

Her glamorous look featured a matching bold red lip while the rest of her make-up was more subdued.

Rose's tresses were styled wet and tucked behind her ears revealing diamond hoops. As she twirled her hair with one hand the other rested between her skin-bearing thighs and she shot the camera a sexy open-mouthed stare.

In another pose for the magazine, Rose looked flawless in a black fit-and-flare cut-out dress which fell to her knees as she sat on the floor laughing with her eyes closed. And the shot featured the same beautiful makeup and jewelry as before.
