Presidential manspreader! Bill Clinton becomes latest high profile culprit singled out for spreading his legs 'to assert masculinity'

  • Manspreading is when a man spreads his legs 'to assert masculinity'
  • The male habit has been lambasted, even by New York City subway signs
  • Tom Hanks was a culprit - and now Bill Clinton has been singled out

He is vying to become second fiddle to his wife as she runs for president.

But former President Bill Clinton has been identified as a 'manspreading' culprit.

To manspread is to spreads one's legs to assert one's masculinity.

The male habit has been lambasted - there are even signs on the New York City subway system telling men not to take up too much space.

However, it seems Clinton quite enjoys a good manspread.

Long-held habit: Bill Clinton, pictured manspreading in the White House in 1997 and at an event in 2007

At campaign events, speeches, awards ceremonies, and even football games, the former president likes to cast his knees wide, Heat Street pointed out.

Clinton is the latest high-profile manspreader to be singled out.

Tom Hanks was caught 'manspreading' on the New York subway.

He defended himself on James Corden's Late Late Show.

'All right, this pisses me off,' said Tom quickly when James brought up the subject of manspreading.

'Hey Internet, you idiot!' Tom exclaimed. 'The train was half empty! It was scattered - there was plenty of room!'

His words came after the MTA specifically made signs warning against manspreading.

'Dude. Stop the spread, please,' reads one of the signs, with a cartoon of a man spreading his legs.
