Barely a day seems to go by without Cyrus' name hitting the headlines.

In the five years since the show ended, the weed-loving 23-year-old has completely transformed from sickly-sweet Disney starlet to the subject of widespread media attention and public scrutiny.

Her controversial performance with Robin Thicke at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards, where Cyrus stripped down to a skin-coloured, latex two-piece outfit and 'twerked' with Thicke, was enough to shake her clean image.

As well as regular television performances and cameos, Cyrus is starring The Untitled Woody Allen Project, which is set in the 1960s, along with Woody, Rachel Brosnahan, and Elaine May.

The six half-hour episode series for Amazon is expected to premiere some time later this year.

Busy Cyrus has also joined the American series of The Voice as a coach, along with Blake Shelton, Adam Levine and Alicia Keys.

Since the show ended he's appeared in a number of made-for-TV movies and lowbrow shows including 2011's Christmas Comes Home to Canaan and 2014's Sharknado 2: The Second One.

It seems he has turned his attention to his slightly more successful music career, and he released his thirteenth album, Change My Mind, in 2012.

It peaked at 38 in the US Billboard Top Country Albums chart.

This year Cyrus has starred in a programme called Still the King, where he plays 'a scandal-ridden, washed-up, one-hit-wonder who was kicked out of country music, only to emerge 20 years later', according to CMT

In an interview with GQ in 2011, Cyrus confessed that 'the damn show destroyed my family' and that he wished it had never happened, saying: 'I hate to say it, but yes, I do.

'I'd take it back in a second. For my family to be here and just be everybody okay, safe and sound and happy and normal, would have been fantastic. Heck, yeah. I'd erase it all in a second if I could.'

If you're thinking that Jason Earles - who plays Jackson Stewartis, Miley's older brother - looks like he has aged far more than five years since the series ended, then you are right.

Jason played a 16-year-old in Hannah Montana - even though he was 29 at the time.

He is now 39-years-old and still acting, although his biggest role remains as Miley's brother.

He also starred in American martial arts-inspired comedy series Kickin' It, a short film called Steve's Big Date and an action film called Hunted: Battle of the Drones.

Last year she was involved in the film Love Is All You Need?, an independent drama set in a world where being gay is normal and heterosexual people are intimidated.

She also played Jodi - an addict living on the streets - in the CBS series Mom, until she was killed off by a drug overdose.

The year before Osment played the lead in a TV show called Young & Hungry, produced by her former co-star Ashley Tisdale, which received mixed reviews from critics.

MITCHEL MUSSO

Musso, now 24, played Oliver Oken, Miley's wimpy friend and Lilly's boyfriend.

He was arrested on suspicious of driving under the influence in 2011 and appears to have stayed more or less out of the limelight from then on.

Sticking mainly to Disney Channel shows following Hannah Montana, Musso has had roles in the animated series Phineas and Ferb and in Pair of Kings. He also hosted the show PrankStars.

Last year he starred in poorly-reviewed horror flick The Sand with a terrible premise - a group of college students wake up on a local beach after an all-night graduation party only to discover that anything that touches the sand will be devoured.

He recently finished filming the lead role in a comedy called Characterz, which is not out yet.

BROOKE SHIELDS

Brooke Shields, 50, had already made a name for herself through her acting and modelling before she was cast as Miley's late mother in Hannah Montana.

Since the show ended she's played roles in a number of TV shows and mildly successful films including The Middle, Chalet Girl and The Greening of Whitney Brown.

This year she's starred in made-for-TV movie Flower Shop Mystery: Mum's the Word and been filming for its sequel, Flower Shop Mystery: Dearly Depotted.

In an interview on the Today show in 2013, Shields weighed in on Cyrus' controversial VMA performance with Robin Thicke.

'I was Hannah Montana's mother!' she said, adding with mock shock: 'Where did I go wrong?'

She then expressed genuine concern, saying: 'I just want to know who's advising her, and why [the racy display] is necessary.... [Our children] can't watch that.

'I feel like it's a bit desperate,' she said.

Moises Arias, 22, was just 12 when he took on the role of cheeky Rico Suave in Hannah Montana.

He's continued acting and had roles in Despicable Me 2, Ender's Game and The Kings of Summer, which premiered at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival to rave reviews.

Perhaps what he is most famous for post-Hannah Montana, however, is his friendship with Willow Smith, the 15-year-old daughter of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith.

In May 2013, eyebrows were raised when Arias posted then deleted a black and white Instagram snap of him and Smith, then 12, reclining on a bed together.

A shirtless Arias was sitting up, leaned against the wall, while Willow was lying down on her side in front of him.

Arias quickly deleted the image, but not before hundreds of his fans reposted it via various social media channels.

Smith’s behaviour – though appearing innocent – was deemed by online critics to be too mature for a newly teenage girl.

Arias also hit the headlines earlier this year when Kendall Jenner, 20, tagged his Instagram account in a post of a photograph of her and her sister Kylie, 18.

It's not clear whether perhaps Arias took the picture, or Kendall simply thought he would appreciate the artistic nature of the snap, as his Instagram contains a plethora of moody black and white posts.
