Meghan Dougherty, 37, was arrested in March last year after allegedly having a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old student at Hillcrest Middle School, in Greenville, South Carolina.

Dougherty was arrested in March 2015 after the mother of a 14-year-old girl told the school district she believed the teacher was involved in a sexual relationship with her daughter.

The teacher, who also coached girls' soccer and volleyball at the school, resigned from the school immediately.

She was arrested and charged the next day and has since been stripped of her teaching license.

According to the school board, a police investigation found Dougherty had engaged in sexual acts with the girl on a number of occasions between January and March 2015.

She allegedly chatted with the girl on social media, by text message, on the phone and was even accused of sending the teenager a Valentine's card.

The school board also said the probe found the teacher kissed and touched the minor in a sexual manner.

Dougherty was freed on bond but she is now accused of having two more trysts with the girl between July 2015 and May 2016.

Greenville County Sheriff's Office said child protection officers became aware of an alleged incident that took place last July on May 6 this year.

'Through the course of the investigation, investigators learned there were two additional incidents that occurred between the victim and Dougherty after she was released on bond on the initial assault,' a police spokesman said.

Dougherty has been charged with two additional counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct and intimidation of a witness.

She was arrested on Wednesday and is being held in Greenville County Detention Center without bond.
