He is almost known as much for his love of sport as he is singing.

And Niall Horan swapped pop stars for professional golfers during a night out in Dublin this week.

The One Direction star looked very dapper as he donned a grey suit for the evening out at Rory McIlroy's bar.

The golfer also got dressed up for the occasion, wearing a charcoal suit and matching shirt.

The pair have been longtime pals and the former world number one invited Niall to play alongside him at a Pro-Am game ahead of the Irish Open next week.

Speaking about their bromance in the past, Niall explained: 'I met Rory a few years ago.

'We became mates. We keep in touch all the time. He's a top man and he gives me a few tips every now and then.

'Whether they work or not I don't know, but he's a great lad and he has a love for golf.'

The famous group descended on Rory's newly opened bar Zozimus on Anne's Lane, which he co-owns with Derry Desmond, son of billionaire Dermot Desmond. 

Rory recently revealed that he was close to quitting the game which has made him his fortune after going through a rebellious stint in his teens. 

He explains: 'I remember when I was 16 I didn't want to play golf anymore. 

'It was a typical teenage phase. It was probably because I wasn't able to hang around with my friends as much as I would have liked.

'I told my parents I wanted to quit and they said okay, now you will have to spend more time on your school work. I went back pretty soon after that.'
