Proud dad! Beyonce and dad Mathew Knowles pictured sharing a hug at star's Formation concert in home town of Houston

Her fans worried lyrics to her Lemonade track Daddy Lessons implied she'd been beaten by her father when she was young.

But Mathew Knowles vehemently denied any suggestion his famous daughter Beyonce had ever felt 'the back of his hand.'

And clearly all is well between the two as, on Wednesday, the pop superstar's mom Tina posted a photo on Instagram showing father and daughter sharing a hug and a smile backstage at Beyonce's Formation concert in Houston, Texas.

Tina captioned the lovely photo with: 'Houston Concert proud dad!!!!'

The 62-year-old, who remarried to Richard Lawson last year, took the photo a week ago when Beyonce rocked her home town.

Matthew encouraged his daughter along with Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams to pursue their music dreams and quit his job to manage the trio as to-selling girl group Destiny's Child.

However, in 2011, the Bootylicious star severed her professional ties with her father in order to take control of her own career.

Her parents had divorced in 2009.

Beyonce and her dad are not often photographed in public together which makers Tina's posting all the more interesting.

It's perhaps a clear statement by the Formation singer that nothing she wrote about in the songs for her new album refer to her relationship with him.

Beyonce kicked off her tour on April 27 in Miami and is scheduled to wrap it up on October 2 in Nashville, Tennessee.

The Lemonade track Daddy Lessons begins with Beyonce reading a few lines from poet Warsan Shire, saying, 'Did he convince you that he was God?

'Are you a slave to the back of his hand? Am I talking about your husband or your father?'

Mathew shut down allegations it described his relationship with Beyonce once and for all during an appearance on Sirius XM show, Make It Plain.

The 64-year-old said: 'I can say I have never in my life hit my daughter. So she has never been a slave to the back of my hand because I didn't believe in that.'

The music manager also refused to discuss the other hotly-debated lyric on the album, which suggests that Jay Z had cheated on the singer with 'Becky with the good hair'.

He added: 'There's no way we can get into the mind of Beyonce. Only Beyonce can answer specifically who she was talking to.

'I would rather not get into speculation. My answer is I don't know.'
