A Photoshop whiz has collected some of the worst fan art on the internet and translated it into real-life images that are guaranteed to give you nightmares.

Imgur user shynodaluvor08 found some questionable portraits celebrities from Rihanna to George Michael and readjusted the faces of the photographs they were taken from - leaving them with all manner of deformities.

He put the results into an Imgur gallery that has since been viewed more than 250,000 times and notched up hundreds of comments, with people labelling the bizarre images 'genius'.

Poor George Michael appears to have an enlarged forehead just like his portrait, while Zayn Malik is even poutier than usual with seemingly overplucked eyebrows.

Undoubtedly the most terrifying is Mel Gibson, whose chin appears to have halved in size while is lips are thin to the point of being nonexistent.

Lady Gaga looks positively equine, with an elongated face and arched nose, while Matt Damon is completely unrecognisable.

One viewer wrote: 'There needs to be more of these,' while another joked of the wonky sketches: 'Everyone starts somewhere. Don't stop practicing.'

Imgur user Thrashe commented: 'Matt Damon looks like a freaky love child of his and Ben Affleck.' Commenting on the same image, another said: 'The Matt Damon one is a really good picture of someone, just not of Matt Damon.'

One said: 'I kinda love that Mel Gibson drawing, tho. It's crude AF, but it captures his likeness effectively. I could instantly tell it was him.'

'This is exactly the art self-esteem boost I needed,' wrote one viewer.

When asked how he came up with the idea, the gallery creator explained: 'This was seriously a, ''I'm drunk. I want something funny to look at. Hey remember that bad fan art of Rhianna? I wonder if there are any others I haven't seen yet.
