Surf's up! Liam Hemsworth displays his fit physique in black and blue wetsuit while riding waves in Malibu

Liam Hemswoth showed his Australia-honed surfing skills on Thursday while catching waves in Malibu, California.

The 26-year-old actor wore a black and blue Hurley wetsuit while riding waves on his white surfboard.

Liam also sported a thick beard as he enjoyed his time out in the water.

The Hunger Games star showed good form as he rode on his board with bent knees and an arm stroking a wave for balance.

Liam was born in Melbourne, Australia but his family relocated to Phillip Island when he was age eight and he spent much of his time surfing with his older actor brothers Chris and Luke.

He was spotted with on-again girlfriend Miley Cyrus, 23, on Wednesday at the Japanese restaurant Nobu in Malibu.

They were joined by Liam's family including his mum Leonie, father Craig and brother Luke along with his wife Samantha.

Liam and Miley met in 2009 on the set of the romantic drama The Last Song and got engaged in 2012.

They ended their engagement after being on/off again in 2013.

They were spotted in Australia in recent months and Miley rang in 2016 with Liam and his brothers in Bryon Bay on Australia's North Coast.

He also appeared earlier this year on the season premiere of Comedy Central's Workaholics.

Miley later this year will serve as a mentor on NBC's The Voice.
