Just don't mention Kelly! Michael Strahan shares his excitement after 'phenomenal' first week at Good Morning America

Much drama surrounded his exit from Live with Kelly and Michael, after it was announced without any prior warning to co-host Kelly Ripa.

But on Wednesday Michael Strahan seemed thrilled to put all of that behind him as he neared the end of his first week on Good Morning America.

The 44-year-old gushed about his move to the morning chat show, telling Us Weekly it had so far been 'phenomenal' and 'amazing.'

'Love it,' Michael also gushed, sharing that the other ABC morning show is made up of 'amazing people.'

The emphatic declaration comes after Michael's departure from Live with Kelly and Michael, on which he was a co-host for four years.

He exited the show last Friday, saying: 'This is a moment that I didn't anticipate being here, at least at this point. But it's here. And we're going to enjoy it.'

The former Giants player continued: 'I'm not dying. I'm still in the family. And I'm still available to come back if I'm ever called to co-host. I'm not going anywhere. I'm not gone. So, there we go.'

There had originally been drama following the announcement of Michael's plan to hop shows, as co-host Kelly didn't hear about it until the news became public.

In response to the way it was handled, Kelly stayed off of the show for four days before returning to his side - only to crack jokes about contract negotiations and his two divorces.

Page Six has reported that since Michael's departure, all trace of him has been erased from the show, which is now simply called Live with Kelly.

The 45-year-old will continue hosting the show with a series of guest co-hosts, such as Jimmy Kimmel, Seal, and Watch What Happens Live host Andy Cohen until a replacement is chosen.

Kelly reportedly has her sights set on either Andy or Anderson Cooper as the new co-host, with little wiggle room in her mind.

A source told Us Weekly, of the hunt for a new co-host, that 'unless one of them can come on, she doesn't really want to do it.'
