'We are currently doing IVF': Girls Next Door star Bridget Marquardt, 42, says she's trying to start a family with fiance Nick Carpenter

Bridget Marquardt announced her engagement to her boyfriend of seven years in October.

And while the 42-year-old Girls Next Door star hasn't yet tied the knot with Nick Carpenter, she's already trying to start a family.

'We are currently doing IVF,' the reality star revealed to UsWeekly.

The ex-girlfriend of Hugh Hefner and Carpenter attended the Let's Make a Baby fundraiser gala where she told the publication she's already on her second round of fertility treatment.

'I feel like there is a lot of shame and embarrassment,' Bridget said. 'People aren’t really talking about [infertility] as much as they should.'

Adding: 'If people talked about it more and came out publicly with their struggle, people would realize they aren’t alone… and not feel so awful about things.'

The Beverly Hills event was hosted by the Baby Quest Foundation, an organization that provides financial assistance to families for their infertility procedures.

Bridget froze her eggs when she was living in the Playboy Mansion at the age of 34.

At the time she was in a relationship with then-boyfriend Hugh Hefner and fellow girlfriends Holly Madison and Kendra Wilkinson.

In 2011 she said, 'We weren’t allowed to date or anything like that. I wanted to have a little bit of insurance and a little extra time.'

The blonde bombshell said she didn't 'feel that clock ticking' and wasn’t 'one of those people who’s dying to have kids.'

But when she spoke with the magazine this week she stated: 'I would love to have a girl. But I kind of want one of each. So I’m hoping that maybe two someday.'

Marquardt and Carpenter began dating in 2008 and he proposed last October with a spider-shaped diamond engagement ring.

'Happy Oct. 1st!!! Oh...and... Did I mention @nicholascarpenter and I are engaged?' Bridget proudly captioned an Instagram snapshot of the ring.

It seemed the blonde beauty may have had some questions surrounding Nick's choice in such an eerie representation of their love.

However Bridget took to social media to shut down the talk and explained how this ring was the perfect choice for her.

'For those asking about my engagement ring...@nicholascarpenter wanted to get me something traditional & I wanted something different & unique,' she boasted.

'It's a diamond paved spider (not a black widow) designed by @lynn_ban & it is absolutely perfect for me!! He knows me well!' she gushed.
