Lord of the dance! James Corden goes into diva mode as he choreographs a routine for DWTS in hilarious sketch

James Corden let his inner diva run wild as he choreographed a dance routine for Dancing With The Stars.

The British comedian made no apologies for his high standards and showed off his own impressive moves in a hilarious sketch for The Late Late Show on Thursday.

The Tony Award-winning star began by confessing his love of tap, before trying on a dazzling blue cape, kicking DWTS judge Bruno out of his trailer, having a meltdown and putting his dancers through a bizarre routine.

James began by admitting he often indulged in some secret tap dancing behind his Late Late Show desk.

'Just because I host a television show when everyone's asleep doesn't mean I'm not dancing,' he said. 'They go 'why don't you dance anymore?' and I say: 'You can't see my feet behind the desk.'.

Arriving on the DWTS set, James introduced himself to cast and crew with a megaphone and limbered up with some twirls and stretches.

But he was unimpressed with the professional dancers, dismissing them as 'sloppy' and 'embarrassing.'

James then met up with DWTS judges Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli as they lounged outside their trailers on the studio lot.

A surprised Bruno greeted James in nothing but his underwear as they shared endless air-kisses.

But things took a turn when choreographer James realized he didn't have his own trailer - and decided to take over Bruno's, ripping off the judge's name tag and throwing his clothes out the door, saying he was getting rid of 'clutter.'

'Gone to his head. Gets to Hollywood... it's a joke!' complained Len.

His trailer sorted, James moved on to wardrobe, where he modelled a selection of dazzling looks before settling on sequined cape, blue boa and a shimmering thermos.

'They don't even know what's coming for them,' he said, checking himself out in the mirror.

'Five, six, seven, eight, get in line b****es!'

But his good mood was again short-lived when the Brit discovered he had only three dancers to work with and would be choreographing a quick 20-second 'bumper' number before an ad break instead of the main routine he'd been expecting.

'I can't do what I do in twenty seconds!' he complained to producers.

'I am a lot of things but I am not quick and I am not fun, not when it comes to dance alright? Or sex, for that matter.'

After berating the producers, James vowed to 'show them what they're bloody missing' and turned to the task of instructing dancers Jenna Johnson, Shannon Holtzapffel and Hayley Erbert.

The talk show host demanded the trio pretend to be birds as he rode around stage on Shannon's back, before showing off his own impressive dance moves and doing the splits.

But they appeared to fall short of his high standards.

Frustrated, James threw his headband at male dancer Shannon, before demanding an assistant pick it up and put it back on his head.

'I feel like I'm watching a group of children who have just come out of a coma,' he moaned to the dancers.

But when a worried-looking DWTS host Tom Bergeron showed up to observe, a proud James told him 'just drink it in' and 'prepare for your Twitter feed to blow up.'

When the moment of truth came, James watched backstage as the dancers performed what Tom called 'an homage to drunken wedding dances' during the ABC broadcast.
