This is the moment Briana Jungwirth handed over baby Freddie Reign to ex Louis Tomlinson in a car park.

In a very modern display of parenting, the former flames made a brief exchange so that new father Louis could spend quality time with his five-month-old son.

The One Direction singer, 24, is thought to have spent around 90 minutes with the newborn in Calabasas, Los Angeles on Thursday before he handed the baby back to the former US-based stylist, 23, in a car seat.

Though Louis has been making a strong bid for time with his son, it's the first time that he has been seen with the mother of his child since she welcomed Freddie in January.

Louis was dressed in all black for the play date, recognisable only from his rugged unshaven appearance as he hid beneath a slouchy beanie hat.

In sporty clobber, the boyband member was flanked by a huge bodyguard who supervised the exchange.

Briana, meanwhile, was joined by a backpack-wearing gal pal, who didn't seem to interact but came along for support.

Newly-brunette Briana was casually dressed in youthful, skinny-fit dungarees making it hard to believe that she had given birth to a son just five months ago.

She carried the baby's car seat with ease, balancing it on her front as she waited for Louis to prep the car for Freddie.

Louis has uprooted his London life to be in Los Angeles, where Briana now lives with the young child.

News that Louis was to become a first-time dad broke in July 2015, following his brief fling with Briana in Los Angeles the previous May.

Louis is now in a new relationship with actress Danielle Campbell.

In February, it was reported that the pair had reached a 'temporary custody settlement,' in which it is said to have been specified that Louis could only visit Freddie at Briana's LA home, alone.

Since then, the 1D star has been seen spending time with son Freddie in the company of girlfriend Danielle as well as his own mother mum Jo, his stepdad and his extended family.

She wrote in an Instagram dedication: 'I was blessed with the most amazing gift - a beautiful baby boy that I grew inside of me for 9 months.

'On the other hand, I was scrutinized and harassed by thousands - which even included major media outlets whom all seemed to believe he wasn't real.'

The journey to motherhood has been quite difficult for the pretty brunette, who went on to discuss the venom she received from others, claiming it had fueled her desire to be a better mother.

'I also know that if it was said about you, you may not had the will power to hold back as much as I have. I will be strong enough to continue to embrace this journey, love my son endlessly and be kind to those who do not deserve it even if it's the last thing I'd like to do.

'Happy Mother's Day to myself. I'm proud to be Freddie's mommy,' she concluded in the post which reached her 460k followers.
