Kirsten Dunst wows in semi-sheer strapless dress as she leads the glamour at Cannes Film Festival's closing ceremony... while British director Ken Loach wins his second Palme D'Or

She's been storming the red carpet at the 69th annual Cannes Film Festival.

And, once again, Kirsten Dunst made yet another savvy sartorial choice as she stepped out for Cannes Film Festival's Palme D'Or Award and closing ceremony on Sunday afternoon.

The 34-year-old actress - a member of this year's jury - continued to reign supreme in the style stakes as she stepped out in another attention-grabbing look at the Palais Des Festivals.

Oozing elegance, the blonde beauty sported a strapless, semi-sheer lace number that showed off her incredible figure - nipping in at her tiny waist and flaring out with a dramatic train.

Featuring symmetrical lace bodice, the skirt was equally adventurous with clusters of diamonds along the hemline. Adding further appeal, she kept her accessories to a minimum in order to let the dress do the talking.

The Fargo star also wore her golden locks up into a sophisticated bun, with loose and tousled sections at the front, that framed her pretty face.

As one of the jurors at the esteemed film festival, Kirsten ensured she nailed every element of her ensemble, sporting soft make-up that complemented her gown.

Framing her baby blue eyes with a sweep of mascara, she wore a slick of rosy gloss on her plump pout whilst a swathe of rouge accentuated her defined cheekbones.

Together, the look was a successful one for the Crazy/Beautiful actress, who first rose to fame in smash-hit thriller Interview With A Vampire.

And while the red carpet may have belonged to Kirsten, the night belonged to British director Ken Loach.

The veteran filmmaker, 79, picked his second Palme d'Or for I, Daniel Blake.

The award, the festival's top prize, was announced by actor Mel Gibson at the Sunday ceremony at the Palais des Festivals on the French Riviera.

Jury president George Miller described the jury's selection as 'rigorous and happy'.

I, Daniel Blake is a warmly realistic drama about a middle-aged widower in northern England who can neither work nor get government benefits after a heart attack. Loach previously also won the top award for The Wind That Shakes The Barley in 2006.

The Left Wing activist has had 12 films in competition at the Cannes Film Festival through his long career, including The Wind That Shakes The Barley, which took the Palme D'Or in 2006.

Look chic in a nude shade like Kirsten Dunst in her Valentino dress

Cannes Film Festival is notoriously glamorous and it's been no different this year. The red-carpet has been a real sight to behold, culminating in tonight's closing ceremony.

Kicking things off with a bang is Kirsten Dunst wearing a stunning Valentino gown. We adore the nude shade which lends the dress an ethereal quality and the intricate lace material is just beautiful.

In fact, Kirsten has been on a sartorial roll throughout her stay in Cannes and has certainly kept things interesting. From making a quirky choice of a Chanel suit at one event, to stunning in a white Dior dress the next, she's made us really look forward to seeing what she'll wear next.

This final look could arguably top them all though, thanks to the stunning Valentino gown. If you're anything like us, you'll be feeling pretty inspired right now by Kirsten's red-carpet outfit so either click right to shop Valentino at Net-a-Porter, or see the impressive selection of nude dresses the high-street has to offer below.

Taking to the stand, he hit out at the austerity policies being adopted across Europe, saying: 'We must give a message of hope, we must say another world is possible.

'The world we live in is at a dangerous point right now. We are in the grip of a dangerous project of austerity driven by ideas that we call neo-liberalism that have brought us to near catastrophe... When there is despair, the people from the far right take advantage.

Alongside Kirsten on the jury was French actress Vanessa Paradis, who looked equally demure.

The former wife of Johnny Depp - who first launched her career as a teenage pop star - slipped into a petite black-and-white dress which deftly displayed her impressive shape.

Like Kirsten, the daring number also featured a lace trim - except Vanessa's was frayed and positioned along the neckline and hem.

Cosying up to fellow juror Donald Sutherland, her and Kirsten certainly seemed to be enjoying themselves.

Talking about his time on the jury, veteran star Sutherland explained: 'It was passion-fuelled by exquisite consideration for everyone in the room.

'It was very beautiful. It was an association of people that you want to see again and again for the rest of your life. It was filled with love.'

Bond baddie Mikkelsen added: 'I think honestly, it was a very fantastic virtue we all had. I want to say bloody but it wasn’t bloody. It was passionate.'

But others also got close on the red carpet, including Mel Gibson, 60, and his girlfriend Rosalind Ross, 25, who indulged in public displays of affection at the Cannes Film Festival Palme D'Or Award and closing ceremony on Sunday.

The Mad Max actor - who has eight children, from two relationships - couldn't keep his hands off of Rosalind, who was equally affectionate as they arrived at the Palais des Festival.

Clearly feeling loved-up, the duo couldn't resist indulging in a very public kiss as they posed for photographs on the red carpet.

Locking lips while keeping their eyes open, the pair were certainly intent of looking loved-up at the annual event's swan song, which will cap two weeks of VIP gatherings.

Once the smooch was finished, they quickly assumed their celeb poses for the world's media.

Rosalind, a champion equestrian, was the picture of poise and serenity as her partner guided her down the red carpet, drawing her close as he held her hand and caressed her backside.

As for the Braveheart actor, he looked every inch the Hollywood star with a finely tailored tuxedo that hugged him in all the right places and complemented the belle of his ball.

The actor was rocking an impressive greying beard, which he donned for his role in his latest film, Blood Father.

Thankfully, Rosalind looked relaxed at the big event - which is a welcome change of pace.

In January her close friend and former vaulting partner Devon Maitozo told the MailOnline that the 'private' Ross has found dealing with the 'negative attention' that has accompanied her new relationship difficult and now just wants to 'get on with her life'.

Maitozo added: 'There's been a lot of very not very nice media that's been written about her. Sifting through it has not been very pleasant at all.

'Sensationalizing her because of her relationships is not what she's looking for.
