Missed the mark! Lady Gaga's childhood piano fails to sell at auction as no one meets the reserve price

Lady Gaga's childhood piano has failed to sell at auction.

The Poker Face hitmaker's old instrument had been expected to sell for $100k  to $200k when it went under the hammer at the Hard Rock Cafe New York on Saturday, as reported by Page Six.

The 30-year-old had used the piano to write her first song at the age of just five, and was selling it as part of Los Angeles-based auctioneers Julien's Auction's Music Icons memorabilia sale.

However, it failed to meet the reserve price - the lowest amount a seller will accept for their lot - and so it did not sell.

A spokesperson for the auction house wouldn't reveal the minimum it could have changed hands for though.

It is not yet clear whether the instrument will sell.

While Gaga's piano wasn't a hit at the auction, over 85 items which had previously belonged to Elvis Presley did prove popular.

Asking too much? Surprisingly the star's instrument did not sell, though it was expected to bring in between $100k to $200k

One example was a 1969 Gibson Dove guitar that the late singer's father had made for him, which fetched a huge $334,000.

Meanwhile, Lady Gaga - whose real name is Stefani Germanotta - previously spoke of how she began learning to play the piano when she was just four years old.

Her parents had taught her to be disciplined by insisting that she attended the lessons they organized, as well as by practicing regularly.

She's evolved: She spent hours practicing on her childhood piano when she was younger, and now puts those skills to good use, as seen here in her hauntingly beautiful performance of Til It Happens To You at the 88th Oscars in February

Discussing how she felt 'isolated' and 'lonely' as a child, she said: 'I did feel very isolated as a young person, and not because I was alone or abandoned by my family, it's just a chemical thing.'

'Some kids are born like that. We don't know why we feel lonely, but we do. It's like depression but it's not because someone neglected me. I grew up in a very disciplined household.'

Lady Gaga continued: 'I played piano when I was four. I sat at it and I started to play it. Did my parents then say to me that we are giving you lessons? Yes.'

'And then when I tried to stop playing they said, 'You can sit there for an hour and practice, or you can sit there for two and not practice.''
