Financial Ombudsman reveals the biggest gripes about pension freedoms

Around one in 10 complaints the Ombudsman gets about pensions nowadays involves a dispute about the new freedoms, which are aimed at allowing over-55s access to retirement pots to spend, save or invest the money as they wish.

A survey has revealed that more than a quarter, or 27 per cent, of over 55s who were victims of investment fraud had put their money in unauthorised firms selling such products.

Last month was a record for stamp duty receipts as landlords and second home buyers settled their tax bills after rushing through purchases ahead of the 1 April hike.
