For six years, her character on Sex And The City never missed the mark when it came to fashion sense and personal style.

Now in her post-Carrie Bradshaw days, Sarah Jessica Parker spends her time a bit differently.

On Sunday SJP was spotted taking a walk with her eldest of three children, 13-year-old James Wilkie Broderick.

Both showed their sense of style by rocking head gear - although their choice of hats couldn't have been more different.

The two seemed deep in conversation as they stopped to cross the street in Manhattan's West Village.

Sarah Jessica opted for a relaxed look, a change from the usual designer gowns she often dons on the red-carpet.

Keeping things comfy, the 51-year-old wore an over-sized black crew neck sweater and a loose choker necklace. The Failure To Launch star paired this with light grey denim pants and a pair of black leather and wooden platform heels.

James kept things equally as casual, wearing khakis, a grey Adidas track jacket, matching high-top tennis shoes and a navy backwards cap.

The Sex And The City Star has always been vocal when it comes to her preference for city life, for both her and her children.

In an interview with Harper's Bazaar the it-girl opened up about raising a family in the Big Apple: 'I love the city. I love everything it has to offer.

'I think that my children are so lucky to be raised here. I love the subway, I love hailing a cab, I love traffic and people and all of the possibilities. I believe in all of that still.'

New Traditions: The SATC star shares a snap of her twin daughters' contributions to their school's bake sale

On the social media front, the mother of three is just as open on what seems to be her favorite role yet - a mother.

The TV Vet often shares snaps of her family's home life and most recently shared a photo of what her twin daughters Marian and Tabitha aged six prepared for their school's annual Spring Bake sale.

The Hocus Pocus actress went as far as sharing a heartfelt post dedicated to both new and old mothers during this recent Mother's Day Holiday.

After taking a mini-break from television, the fashion icon is set to return to HBO in a very different role, playing Frances on the show Divorce, a woman going through a very long and drawn out divorce.

Set to co-star are Thomas Haden Church as Frances' husband and Molly Shannon as Diane, France's high-strung but lovable best-friend. A release date has yet to be announced.
