The Dome House Boutique (main picture today and top left in 2010) was built for the Grand Design cameras with a grand open plan living area (top right), swimming pool, sauna, four-poster beds and glorious views of Bowness-on-Windermere, Cumbria. But the once ultra-modern luxury holiday let is now dilapidated and disintegrating. Mother-of-three Claire Farn had booked a week-long family holiday there in August for £1,000 after seeing the lodge on TV. But after booking online she heard nothing back for a month. She said: 'We couldn't get in touch with anyone and were really worried about our holiday. Then their website disappeared and so did their listing on eBay.' According to neighbours, the Dome has been deserted for three months. The project appeared doomed from the start after Robert and Milla Gaukroger ran out of money. The Grand Designs show ended with it being half-finished but a viewer then offered to put up the rest of the cash. Mr Gaukroger said last year he had to put it on the market because 'we have a loan to pay'.
