Devastating photos from Calvin Harris' recent car crash show just how lucky the superstar DJ was to walk away with only a few minor injuries, as girlfriend Taylor Swift says she 'won't be leaving his side'.

Pictures show the mangled red Volkswagen Beetle which smashed side on into Harris's black SUV with a badly damaged hood, bumper hanging off and license plate folded in two.

Meanwhile, Harris' car absorbed all the impact on the front left wheel. One photo shows the left side of the hood was completely torn off, revealing the engine underneath.

As the photos show, things could have been a lot worse for the How Deep Is Your Love DJ, but girlfriend Taylor Swift was desperate to be by his side nonetheless.

After being seen by doctors, his first phone call was to his multiple Grammy Award winning girlfriend.

Swift, 26, then asked if he wanted her to jet in to see him - but Harris refused, stressing that his injuries were only minor and that he did not want to cause undue concern.

A well-placed source told HollywoodLife.com: 'Taylor was very scared when she got a call from Calvin saying he had been in a terrible accident.

'Her first reaction was to ask if he needed her to be with him, but Calvin told her everything was okay and he was just a little shaken up.'

Swift has since told Harris that 'she doesn't want him doing anything for the next few days, and when she sees him she will be waiting on him hand and foot'.

A source told HollywoodLife.com: 'Calvin doesn't want a fuss made, but she's not going to give him any choice in that matter. She will be catering to him for everything he needs, even if that includes driving him around or making him a cup of tea.'

The singer was a no-show at the Billboards on Sunday night, so may well be at his side already.

The 16-year-old girl who was driving the Beetle is also pictured separately, lying on the tarmac as paramedics surround her, one supporting her neck.

She suffered a broken pelvis, according to TMZ.

The horrific collision happened late Saturday, when the driver of the speeding Beetle, which was allegedly filled with teenagers, lost control, nearly slamming into Coldwater Canyon mountain.

She is said to have swerved across the center line and in doing so, smashed into a Cadillac SUV, which Harris was a passenger in.

It's claimed the impact was so severe that the Beetle, which was allegedly filled with teenagers, saw one young woman ejected from the lap of her boyfriend.

Harris, who had been on his was to LAX, meanwhile was rushed to hospital, where he was treated for a laceration on his face.

He was forced to cancel a scheduled show on Friday before later pulling out of his headline slot at Alabama's Hangout Music Fest on Saturday.

Law enforcement sources reportedly told the outlet that Calvin was a passenger in a Cadillac SUV when a Volkswagen Beetle convertible crossed the centre line and crashed into the vehicle he was riding in.

But despite sustaining acute injuries, it's alleged Calvin left the hospital 'against medical advice' after he was told there were no private rooms available.

A rep for Calvin disputes that and says he was cleared to leave, reports TMZ.

Understandably Calvin has been forced to cancel his upcoming shows, with a message on his official Facebook page reading: 'Adam's transport was involved in a collision this evening on the way to the airport.

'As a result he will be unable to perform at Omnia tonight. He has been examined by doctors and told to rest for a few days - Calvin HQ.'

Harris' real name is Adam Wiles.
