The Catholic Church has not commented or participated in the unexpected mass pilgrimage, although the archbishop of the nearby city of Bucaramanga has asked people to be cautious.

Local priest Jorge Eliecer Garcia said: 'People tend to rally in these situations that become pilgrimages or even business to some. But they also touch the hearts of people in one way or another.'

Locals have demanded for representatives of the Catholic Church to come and clarify if it is indeed a miracle of if there is a scientific explanation for the situation.
