Sheer magic! Mia Wasikowska turns heads in a see-through jewel encrusted gown at Alice Through The Looking Glass premiere in Los Angeles

She often lights up the red carpet in spectacular designer gowns.

And Mia Wasikowska didn't disappoint as she attended the Los Angeles premiere of her latest film Alice Through The Looking Glass at the El Capitan Theatre on Monday.

The 26-year-old looked flawless in a black Alexander McQueen gown, which featured intricate crystal embellishments and sheer mesh panels throughout the bodice as well as crystals dotted throughout the skirt.

Both leading ladies from Alice Through The Looking Glass made style statements at the film's premiere last night.

But while Anne Hathaway worked quirky cool by Christopher Kane, Mia Wasikowska opted for a more traditional red carpet gown by Alexander McQueen. This fabulous look is from the British label's AW16 collection, although as you can see Mia's is opaque and doesn't show quite as much skin at the catwalk version.

There's nothing like some glittering embellishment to catch the light, and the eye, and we love the Gothic glam of Mia's gown. The structured bodice is beautiful and those straps are to die for. Swoon.

The starlet's slender frame was showcased by the figure-hugging gown, while the colour perfectly complemented her porcelain complexion.

Mia's cropped blonde locks were worn straight with a deep side part, while her bright red lipstick added even more glamour to the look.

The Australian actress kept the rest of her ensemble very simple, with a pair of diamond stud earrings being her only accessories.

The Canberra-born beauty, who reprises her role as Alice in the film, posed alongside co-star Anne Hathaway on the red carpet.

The 33-year-old, who has just given birth to her son Jonathan last month, stunned in a custom Christopher Kane dress.

The actress put her ample bust on display in the strapless dress, which featured vertical stripes as well as floral embroidery.

Mia and Anne both exuded elegance as they posed with their male co-stars, Johnny Depp and Sacha Baron Cohen, who play the characters Mad Hatter and Time respectively.

Meanwhile, singer Pink also made a special appearance at the Hollywood event.

The mother-of-one performed her hit song Just Like Fire outside the theatre.

Alice Through The Looking Glass, based on the novel by Lewis Carroll, picks up with Alice Kingsleigh (Wasikowska) three years after viewers last met her.

Having returned from sailing the high seas, she re-encounters Absolem, finds a magical looking-glass and returns to the nonsensical realm of Underland.

The film is set for release in Australia in July.
