Ms Nielsen later posted it on her Facebook page, saying: 'A young woman left this tip for me today and I've been on the verge of tears ever since.

'Her friend must have been a lovely person to inspire generosity in the wake of tragedy. Go hug your friends, everyone.'

According to NEWS10, she said: 'It just kind of blew up, and we had like 1,600 views or something.

'You never know what other people are going through in their personal life, so be patient and be kind, and hopefully good karma will come to you.'

The tip would be used to pay it forward in her own way - she plans to treat her friends and boyfriend to a night out.

She also passed on a message to the generous tipper: 'Just thank you, and I hope it gets better from here on out.'
