Rupert Friend and his beautiful fiancée Aimee Mullins head out on low-key dinner date in New York

They've been engaged for two years but the look of love still lingered in the air when Rupert Friend and Aimee Mullins were spotted out and about in New York on Monday.

The power couple even appeared to be slowly synchronizing their style, Rupert matching his floppy brown hat to Aimee's tan leather jacket.

The 34-year-old Homeland actor and his 39-year-old athlete fiancée were seen picking up parcels, before relaxing in a cafe for a bite to eat.

The pair seemed relaxed as they played on their phones as they enjoyed a glass of wine at a local Italian restaurant.

Aimee wore fitted black trousers, a black top, sunglasses and trainers, while Rupert opted for jeans and a casual white shirt.

The couple confirmed their engagement in late 2014, when the English actor called American fashion model Aimee on stage during the L'Oréal Paris Women Of Worth Awards in New York.

Aimee first made waves in the fashion world, having featured on the cover of Dazed & Confused in an iconic image in 2008.

She was born with medical condition fibular hemimelia (missing fibula bones), resulting in the amputation of both of her lower legs at the age of one and has since become a prominent speaker on the topic of prosthetic innovation.

Aimee is in high demand globally, speaking out on topics including body and identity.

She has made many appearances at TED conferences and her talks are some of the most watched.

Meanwhile Homeland heartthrob Rupert is thought to be working on season six of gritty Showtime series Homeland, which will air in autumn.

Fans are waiting to see what becomes of Quinn (Rupert Friend), whose life was hanging in the balance in the season five finale.

Showtime programming president Gary Levine hinted of his fate at the Television Critics Association panel in January, as reported by Entertainment Weekly.

'Quinn is severely damaged,' Levine said. 'There is no question about it. The life-or-death question remains. But if he should live, it will not be in any way, shape or form the way he has lived to date.'
